I’m sure that LED ribbon test is at full brightness just to ensure it’s working to its maximum capacity, but I hope they get the brightness right when it’s being used on match day.

I sit in the East Lower and I remember when they first got the moving digital display advertising at WHL. They pitched it way too bright and it was unbelievably distracting ( and probably to the players too), until someone obviously had a word with them after about a month and they eventually toned it down.
I was sitting in the Paxton Upper at the time and still found it very annoying. Thought I'd just got used to it, didn't realise they'd turned it down.

The bottom row of LED lighting does not go all along the west stand only about one third of the way; is this is the finished look or will it extend all the way along the west stand? If anyone knows I would be obliged to be put right thanks

That's because the media area and tv room are situated there, to the best of my belief. Am happy to be proved wrong (again)...

These are the bits that struck me from the otherwise whingey Telegraph article:

"the construction costs of the surrounding area account for more than half of the total projected £850million bill."

As I've been saying for years when people go on and on and on about the cost of the stadium itself, compared to the original estimate.

"The club had spent over £340m on the acquisition of land, the planning process (including a compulsory purchase order and legal challenges) and build costs by last summer. This was financed with resources of the Club plus £100million drawn from loans"

Broadly as I've been saying for years: 40% of the total development cost was spent and accounted for years ago. So we don't have to borrow £850m.

[/smug]

The best bit of that article is the "Q&A" at the bottom. Contains information instead of spin.

Well I don’t know this for a fact, but assumed so as there was a marked difference from one visit to the next.

One thing for sure, our new stadium is going to be lit up like a Xmas tree with all these different light effects.

You do have to wonder why, when the £340m figure is confirmed in the Q&A, they still used the £800m figure in the article:whistle:
It is intersting that "this was financed by resources of the club plus £100m drawn from loans". What this tells me is that the persistent claims that we will now be unable to buy players for the next few years is flawed as we've already taken the hit.

We still have to pay the costs for the surrounds as well. The southern development hasn't started yet so it will probably wont be seeing a full return till that is finished and we have sold the flats there. I wouldn't expect us to be spending lots of money on players for a while yet.

I think the club is likely to form a partnership with an established home-builder to construct the flats. A common way to do that would be for THFC to throw in the land, the developer to cash-flow the build, using their usual sources of borrowing, and for their to be a division of risk and profit based on the out turn costs and sales receipts. That would be roughly another £100m that the club doesn't have to borrow.

Also blaming the club for the delays for crossrail work as people are leaving crossrail jobs to come work at our stadium. Just pathetic, what else are we gonna be blamed for, the hurricane in South Carolina? Fucking twats.
