The Fighting Cock sat down THST yesterday and it's a really interesting listen:

https://www.acast.com/thefightingcock/s8e04-trustinlevy-?autoplay

Flav pushed home the point about how disappointing the lack of apology was in the first statement and all they did was bang on about the NFL, THST said they raised this with to the Club and they "thought" they'd apologised. Speaks volumes about how poor the Comms team is, they need to get someone in who proof reads our statements from a fans perspective before anything goes out.

In my opinion they need to get it right first time, not the second time when it comes across as a reaction to all the negativity. Time we started behaving like the big Club they'd have us believe we are.

I think they've blocked us moving the match to Manchester as an away game or to another venue aside of Wembley or NWHL. The match can be rearranged to a different date subject to agreement from the clubs, sky and PL.
this is going to get very complicated if the stadium has got the licence then city game ok at NWHL, but group CL games will still be at Wembley if we drawn at home.. which would mean going back to Wembley for CL even though we can play in NWHL

I think the first statement was rushed out because of the story breaking over the internet, it was unfortunate that there was no sincere apology but the story was potentially ravelling out of control and they had to make a statement. The rumour is that they had plan to make a statement the following morning, but all the papers had got hold of Ashton's story. The second statement was more reflective of what we all expected.

I'm willing to give the club a bit of leeway because if those stories are true about the meeting earlier in the day, events happened pretty quickly and taken somewhat out of the clubs hands by the FA's leak.

But yeah the club can do better for sure.

Honestly, does the Comms team have no clue why releasing the fact that we have a new “timing” partner this week might not be a good idea!

They have people who get paid fortunes to deal with and be reactive to these situations though mate. Holding off another hour and giving the statement more thought wouldn't have made any difference. Looking like a fox in the headlights doesn't reflect well, I'd go as far as saying the first statement was unprofessional and made the situation worse.

Levy has pushed for us to reach this new level, both in terms of how we perform on the pitch and our facilities off it but it's beginning to look more and more like he hasn't hired the people good enough to back this up. We're quick to brag about a world class stadium and how it's going to be one of the best in Europe and how the training ground is already the best so what comes out of our Club needs to reflect that, from top to bottom.

well then lets end the discussion there then, as you know what happened. all I will say if it was picked up then I can most probably say for certain something would of come out in the press that week. not every single person in the stadium that day would of been Spurs supporters, there where still builders on site, and someone would of leaked it.
No need for the hostility I wasn't having a dig at you as that was what was reported. I was merely just questioning it.
I don't know how these test events work but to my knowledge I doubt the attendees would have known.

Hiring the best costs money. Very few companies will go all out and recruit the very best in their field. Levy doesn't strike me as one who will pay more than he believes he needs to.

Exactly, but no difference to the last season at the old place really.

I also doubt even at a test event they would set the sprinklers off. that job was most probably finished long time ago, or totally finished recently and apparently when Mace tried them out they found a fault.

the hostility is the continuous negative post for the last 2 to 3 months, and everything being blamed on the club. the only thing from what I have heard Spurs or Levy were totally guilty of is not paying 25m straight up in 1 hit for Grealish. all the other deals we went for either the club refused to sell or moved the goal post so far north that the deals weren't viable. Unless your willing to pay over the odds and stupid agent fees it gets harder to buy the players we need to improve this team, and it wasn't helped that we had very few offers in our own players.

All I know is I support Spurs through good or bad, I'm alive even though if I've a cats life I've most probably only 1 more chance lol, and just live each day as it's my last. there is so much going on in the world I just can't get angry that we failed to sign a player unless it's 1 that Poch wants and was available. yes I'm angry we didn't sign Grealish, but it's not the end of the world.

This is turning into a cross between a match thread and an ITK discussion thread. Just waiting for a few formations to be posted and we're there.

Can we get back to discussing important things like how concrete dries etc...?

This is true, I guess we'll never know.

I too will support Spurs, good or bad. But it doesn't mean I can't question some of their actions. I agree there are more pressing things to worry about, but football does offer some escapism from those.

The only realistic options now for city are stadium ready or Wembley postponement. A 3rd venue would definitely bring integrity of league into question as it would be a totally neutral venue. Anyone know 1st available Wembley date as November/December usually very congested. Hasn’t AJ got a fight as well which will screw the pitch.

I actually dont mind us facing City in our first game. It's probably our best chance of beating them. The place will be absolutely buzzing. The more we're kept waiting the higher the anticipation will build before we finally move in. What I'm most interested in is how compact the pitch will feel, from the pics it's looking like it will be but hard to tell until the lines of the pitch are out with a full crowd around it. If we can recreate that smothering of our opponents like we did at WHL we can beat anybody there. A repeat of our 16/17 performance over them would be ideal.

In terms of the Champions League it's hard to see us not playing at Wembley. It will be interesting to see if we get the full capacity there though.

In all honesty, I dont care about apologies, what I dont want is for them to do it again. Apologies are cheap when not backed up,

My thought is that I think it will be delayed again which will make us a laughing stock. In my view we should just suck it up and play at Wembley this year that way we can complete everything etc...

the match cant be rescheduled, it causes a headache to city fixtures congestion, sky etc , big prob, and NWHL would have to be ready 6 weeks before to stage this fixture on the 28th

Of course it can be rescheduled, loads of fixtures do for various reasons, cup competitions, weather etc, as long as all parties agree and that could be difficult if City or any other of the parties want to prove difficult and cause us problems
