What you see is it, there are three 'details' to be installed, one between the curved eaves and the outer ring of the cassettes, one between the inner ring and glass sections and one over the gaps between each row of cassettes which will hold a cable tray as well.

Much like the pitch trays, I’m sure this has all been well thought out, but if there’s no solid membrane then the roof will leak all over the fans when it rains. Seems an odd choice for such a high-end stadium.

I suspect the delay is to sort out playing the games away. The clubs will all have to talk to each other. I suspect the same thing happened with Liverpool and West Ham

Over 75% of the roof cassettes have been installed.

For the last time and this was straight from the horses mouth. An email posted on SSC from SCX. “ the rails will be covered with thinner strips of AstroTurf that will be removed when the football pitch has to be rolled out”

Actually, the flexible single ply membrane is actually a better choice, the roof will move +/-4m potentially, using a rigid standing seam roof would have to include a lot of difficult movement joints. (I shouldn't really say, but the single ply was my companies proposal)!! Single ply membranes are easily repairable, much more so than metal roofs. I think you'd be surprised what other stadia use single ply on the roofs also!

You honestly believe they're going to all this trouble but haven't considered the need to have a roof that doesn't leak?

Probably because people have been asking nearly every other day for weeks. It has been answered a lot and the same video posted numerous times.

I didn't doh anyone just explaining.
I didn’t say you did mate. But others did. And actually the poster responded quite well. It shows what happens. But doesn’t really answer the question about the tracks running down the middle of the pitch. Which was what I was asking. It’s a valid question.

Edit: people have answered it since. Which is fine. Thanks. Still not blown away with the solution. Be interesting to see if this has potential to cause injury. But it’s only American footballers. Meh

To maybe help those who don't understand, below are three sections of the three details at the important junctions where the red line is the single ply membrane and the blue is metal cladding or other associated metalwork.

The first drawing is a section at the curved eaves, where the curved eaves sits to above and to the left of that shown, and the metal cladding comes down from the top of it to meet the cassettes.

The second image below is a section through the junction between two rows of cassettes, again, red is the single ply membrane and blue represents a metal capping bridging the cap on the inverted 'L' sections that you can see installed on the webcams

Lastly, the below shows a junction between the end of the row of cassettes and the glass panels on the inner edge of the roof.

The likelihood for the delay, as I see it, will be because Levy will have to arrange to swap home/away fixtures with at least one club in the 24 hours following the fixture announcement. I'd imagine the league will allocate us the first 3 matches away from home as we have requested this and there are precedents set by other clubs for this. We may then need to arrange to swap fixtures with the team in the 4th game of the season so that we are playing away in the final game before the international break, giving us until mid-September to finish the build.

I'd be stunned if Levy hasn't already got agreements in place with the league for this to be accepted, and also likely has agreements in place with the other clubs in the league to allow the 4th game swap to happen. IMO we'll have a friday announcement that we'll play the first home game of the season in the new stadium after the international break.

So @Dunc2610, just to be clear do you know if spurs are using the membrane? Or are they just relying on the three details you refer to? As I understand it, those drawings are your company's ones, not the ones being used here?

Ok, so my company were engaged in a PCSA (so basically did all the design work, and tendered for it), but ultimately weren't successful in securing the works, as another company came in quite a bit less than us, but, it was based on the original standing seam metal roof design. So, from what we can see, the installed roofing, appears to be to the design we did, however there would have been some development of our design I should think.

Done by Prater I believe or was that Emirates' roof?
I can assure you Prater did not do the Wembley roof, Emirates yes, and this was a single ply roof.

Tottenham Hotspur to stay at Wembley for at least one match next season

Tottenham Hotspur are set to announce tomorrow that they will play at least one Premier League home game at Wembley next season due to delays in completing the construction of their new £850 million stadium.

The Times revealed last month that the club had secured the right to return to the national stadium for a handful of matches, having used Wembley as their home for all of last season, and that option has now been triggered, although the precise number of home games they are intending to move for remains unclear.

Tottenham are planning an announcement to coincide with tomorrow’s publication of next season’s Premier League fixtures, having been told by the League and the FA that they must inform them of their plans by the fixture release date.

The Premier League has given Tottenham the right to play their first three games away from home if required, as they have done to West Ham and Liverpool in recent seasons, but given that the club have given up on their new stadium being ready in time for the start of the next campaign they may opt to play at least one of these opening three fixtures at Wembley.

Tottenham have secured the right to play several matches at Wembley, but are not planning to disclose the precise number as the timeline of the stadium build remains fluid and they do not want to give any additional leeway to the construction team. The club are hoping to play their fifth match of the season at their new ground, when the Premier League resumes after the first international break on September 15, but are not in a position to guarantee that.

Tottenham’s ground and fixture-swapping plans have been endorsed by their Premier League rivals, with the league also willing to waive a rule that clubs must complete all of their home games at the same stadium, because of their willingness to support stadium improvements.

Tottenham will be given permission to play away in the third round of the Carabao Cup, and will be able to move a Champions League group game to Wembley if required.
