Encouraging update on TFC from a source who has high up connections in the club.
Says 98% of the tests ok. Will be fully signed off on retests of the other 2%. Emergency services signed off.
If we get past Dortmund we will play CL in the stadium this season.
Believe what you will but I prefer to be optimistic.

Would love for that to be true, thoughts of us playing in the stadium this season have drifted from my mind to be honest so I won't be disappointed if we don't, but will be massively excited if we do.

I thought we had to play all knockout games at Wembley if the first one was played there, or am I wrong?

This has been going on all season and you really ought to know the answer by now, that said, I don't know either:)
I am sure it was the case in the group stages and I understand that but I'd hope the knockout stage is different as one game has no bearing on the next round really. Let's just hope.

Aha :) And yeah it was the case from group stages to knockout but I can't remember if it was ever discussed as to what the circumstances would be from one knockout stage to the next.

It would be incredible but I'd damn sure just take it being ready for a few league games this season.

It may be that an old fashioned system may have taken less time to sort out if it's installation had been completely buggered up I grant you but I'd guess you'd be unlikely to choose a system based on that, you'd assume the people running the cables had at least half a fucking brain.
Don't get me wrong, I'm as pissed off as you and I hope we eventually identify exactly who is responsible and get the bastard.

That requires a little bit of common sense on UEFA's part. They might or might not show some common, but it isn't a given. Personally, I'd love to see the team play at home this season, even if it's just 2 or 3 games, so that the players aren't completely unaccustomed to the place when the new season starts in August. Let's just try to be optimistic on this one.

Loads of tests going on today, so incredibly loud! I can't imagine how the sound will carry when the stadium is packed with 60,000+ fans!

I'm not surprised they used a new alarm system. Everything about this stadium is state of the art including security. I'm just frustrated it was not only done wrong but so much so that the stadium was delayed this long.

The thought of a Champions League night at the new ground is amazing though. First we need to complete the job against Dortmund. I can't see UEFA having an issue with it if we get through. If anything away fans would complain if we play in front of 90k when our 62k one is available.

There's a bit of confusion regarding the "new" fire alarm, it's an analogue addressable style system, which have been in use since at least the early 90's. System design & the cabling layout specifications have been pretty much the same for 25 years, it's just the equipment installed has improved over time.

Stating all the different detector types, or 3rd party systems it connects in with doesn't really matter, as all those things are standard things that fire alarms do.

So while it's more complicated than just throwing in an alarm system, it's not something that's beyond pretty much any competent fire alarm company with enough installation/commissioning staff.

Ok so why is it taking over a year to get working?

I'd love to know the exact reasons, incompetence at numerous levels by the sounds of it.

Coys200's friend was saying that it was a prototype fire panel. That it was a problem with the software. How complicated that is you tell me.

I've seen so many condemnatory "opinions" posted about this, but this is the first that has managed to nail the important distinction. There's a chasm of difference between the Spurs fan who can only attend the occasional match (such as I was before I got my season ticket in 2010) and a tourist who is visiting a London landmark for a selfie.

It may be that this is being exacerbated by being at Wembley, where the fame of the venue is arguably greater than and independent of the renown of Spurs. We might find that, after an initial novelty-period in the new stadium, the percentage of selfie-takers with zero footballing interest declines.
But I don't think they're mutually exclusive.

There are Spurs fans all over the world. For some, seeing the team in the flesh is a once in a lifetime opportunity and is the climax of their Spurs supporting life. I don't blame them for trying to capture every single moment of it, so that they can continue to savor it and even appreciate it when they're in the heat of the moment.

People are being understandably sensitive. I'll provide the below to describe what I term a tourist.

I'm going to New York soon. It's not the NFL season but I'd still like to watch some sport. I've realised it's the opening game for the baseball season. I might go, it does interest me although I don't watch baseball. I will be a tourist. I watched Herta in Berlin as a tourist. I could go on. If you follow spurs day to day, bother wasting hours on this site, then you are a fan, not a tourist.

Totally agree.

Don't understand why people get so annoyed. I've been to non-Spurs games overseas many times and even to an NBA game in NY. Each and every time I was a tourist. Why are we so hung up about these types of fans? Spurs are a catch now and when people visit London (one of the top destinations globally for international visitors) of course if they like football or even sport they would generally welcome the opportunity to go to the game. I can say that I have bought tickets for friends numerous times this season alone and they have all loved the experience.

It comes with the territory, if you want your club to be successful accept that people will want to watch them - even tourists :)

You missed the point entirely. No one is being sensitive about being called a tourist. The problem is the unwelcoming comments that people have been making towards said tourist. Its like the Americans being unwelcoming and offended by you visiting this opening game of the baseball season and not sticking to "soccer" where you belong.

[Edit] I re read your post and I missed the point! You are actually saying the same thing I have just written! (y)
