When they say completed, do they mean everything finished? Because no, I don't think it will be complete by the end of the season.

Did anyone really think it was going to be fully completed this year?

Open yes, but it was never going to be fully completed

As has been said on here many times, there's a big difference between being finished and being ready to play in!

It was already made clear that it wouldn't be finished this season before the season started. It was going to be ready for Liverpool but a lot of work was to be finished in the summer. We did bring a lot of that work forward but I guess there isn't time to finish it all. At least it's going to be more complete when we move in so will look even better from day one now.

is it right because I can't remember that Levy had his own "project managers" involved and mace where just the contractors?

if that's true then surely Mace can't be held accountable for the delays in anyway

If I remember correctly it's the other way around; THFC/Enic acted as the contractor, and Mace were the construction/project managers. @davidmatzdorf and some others, apologies to you all, bad memory, will attest or correct as necessary.

Sorry @davidmatzdorf someone I’m arguing on twatter (another Levy hater), is using that as an excuse for the project over running

So how would that of had an effect the build. Did Levy employ the builders

In case you were wondering about that tweet from Lammy - he's a local politician and not involved with the build.

As for the accountability side of things, I would imagine that's all going to come down to the details of the contracts that have been signed. I think there was a muttering on here a while ago that Mace were one of just a few companies willing to take on the project because it had such a tight opening date, and that as part of their agreeing to do it there were no hard and fast delivery deadlines written into the contract. I have no idea if that's true by the way... just something I remember reading on here.

So it will be interesting to see how it plays out, but my guess would be that our ability (or lack thereof) to seek compensation will be in black and white already. These are big companies dealing with big money projects and will be aware of how easily things can go wrong, so I would imagine they are insured up the backside and have very solid contractual defenses setup. I would also imagine that the people who really know what happened are all subject to NDAs as well so we might never know the full story, especially if there is going to be a compensation case.

Hopefully everything will look finished for us plebs

The cheese room etc might have to wait for the gold leaf to dry

As long as my seat is in place, its screwed in tight, there is no chewing gum on it yet and the roof doesn't leak onto my head, then I'm happy

If you search this thread for "construction management" and my user name, you should pull up a couple of more detailed explanations of the contract procurement they're using. The subcontracts are let directly by THFC's development company and Mace are the construction managers. Mace will have a late-completion-damages liability in the contract, but that's just the start of it. It usually ends up being a drawn-out negotiation, followed by a commercial settlement.
