Wouldn't they be used mainly for before kick off and at half time?
Get through as many customers as possible in a short time.

Won't we also have restaurants parts of the ground as well? That will be where they want people to go after the game

the restaurants seem relevant. Outside of the exclusive ones just for those in expensive seats and boxes I wonder what else there might be for everyone else. Being that the club made a big deal of this in terms of the transport plan, that would imply there would be a good number of seated places /facilities for eating available at the end of the game. Maybe there will be some kind of food court in the south stand, probably not.

I think it's true to say that we don't know...that this element has not really been explained in detail.

Maybe they mean they are hoping a significant number of people will delay leaving by say 30 minutes to ease the crush on the tube and trains. At the moment I am not sure if there are facilities that would mean people would want to stay longer than that (outside of the hospitality zones that most of us won't have access to that is)

I would imagine that is what they mean. I doubt anyone would spend hours and hours in the stadium after the game, even with improved facilities.

Especially after a night game!

In other news, a decent cockerel shadow today

If they want people to take food back to their seats even post game, the other thing I wonder is whether they can bring a beer too once the game's over or if that's still against regulations. Because that'd be a deal breaker for many.

Takes me back to the issue of somewhere to sit with your expanded food and drink options. How can they expect people to turn up very early, or leave quite a while after the end of the game if there is nowhere to sit? If you were with your 80 year old father with dodgy knees, it’s not practically possible.

There are areas where you can sit you can see them on the renders for the south stand. Remember you can move around the stands. Not all the food/drink outlets will probably be open before/after the game, they will most likely have designated areas where they will want fans to gather.

Also remember any seating will probably be the last thing installed. They don't want to block people moving equipment/material about.

Agree. The police wouldn't be happy with 60,000 football fans hanging around after a game. They'll want them dispersed as soon as possible.
If it is going to take an hour to get everyone lined up and packed on a train, then they'll be grateful if half that number can be persuaded to have a quick pint at the stadium for 30 mins. But the stadium bars will be shutting one by one at that point, areas cleared, and fans shuffled along. Unless you are a toff.

It's a lovely idea of having a post game drink-up into the early hours, Oktoberfest style, spilling out onto the plaza in the summer, singing songs and swapping stories. It would be brilliant 9 times out of 10, and then they'd be a riot.

It was my first visit to the new stadium/shop today and it looked lovely. It gave me another stark reminder though about the area. In the space of a five minute walk up the high street to Sainsbury’s where I parked I was approached twice for money and someone threw some kinda liquid out of their window (presumably at me). I was with my 3 year old.

Daniel does get a bit grouchy when he hasn’t had his afternoon nap

I assumed from what I have read that there would be eating places open after games and you can at least sit somewhere and grab some food. Would suit me as often I don't have time to eat much before and would rather wait for a bit after and avoid queuing in traffic or at stations.

I think quite a lot will hang around after games purely because the place is just going to be so nice. Especially the 1st season, novelty might wear off after that or people may get into a routine. I remember watching a YouTube of the new training ground. They were interviewing some ex players and basically all were saying if it was like this in their day they’d never have gone home. I have a feeling the new stadium will have a similar effect.

i apologise if this has already been discussed or if I’m in the wrong thread. But in regards to our south stand, do we have a supporters group who will arrange for large flags, banners etc to be present on match days or is it down to one individual who will hopefully come along with something.

Not sure but I hope we pin up flags at the top of the stand between the roof and the top of the seats. If I’m being honest not a fan of the wavyness of the stand( I know it has to be like this because of the shape of the bowl that’s been designed) and the gap letting all the light in. Think it makes it look less intimerdating than it potentially could have. The thing that makes the Liverpool and Dortmund single tier stands impressive is that it all almost disappears under the roof and has that closed in feel where you can really get an atmosphere going. My one real gripe with the stadium.

I really hope we dont have those stupid flags that are waved after goals ala Arsenal.

That said, hopefully we wont have the room as we are so much closer to the pitch

they can't fit 60k seats inside the concourse even if they had 2 rows at every level in every corridor. I know that many wouldn't sit down, but however many they put in if they did would be taken by someone the minute they become available. there are numerous bars and restaurants inside that will have seating in them, it will just be a case of getting there at the right time.

I do sympathise as I know when I go, I'll have to head to my seat the minute my legs decide enough is enough, but they can't cater for those that need it, because they don't have a clue how many would

The impressiveness of the Kop is a complete myth tbh. When you see it in the flesh I was quite shocked how small it is.

Obviously meant Liverpool kop

It depends on the kick off time. If it's a 12:30 kick off sure, anything 3pm onwards I expect people to arrive early and hang out around the ground before the game but leave off early as possible after.

Also depends on whether they broadcast the other games. At Wolves last week they were showing the gooners/scouser game. If they can do it then why can’t we?

Well we might have to show Liverpool or Man City games just so we can back up our claims of the new stadium being the only place to watch CL football
