Remember, they haven't even laid a brick of the new South stand yet. If we do open the stadium in 2018/2019, I would have thought it pretty likely that a significant chunk won't be finished. However, with increased capacity in the finished stands I don't think it'll be a disaster if that is the case. We've played in half finished stadiums before.

We could always play all our away games before Christmas then all home games after?

Hope unfounded but been told by very good source on build that decision as to whether we are vacating stadium this summer is still to be taken
Work has progressed well last few weeks but still touch and go with final decision meant to have been taken back end last week when Wembley outcome known. If leave could still be we are out for more than one season as will be very tight. If 2 yr plan decided then work will be scaled back.

What I don't understand is where the benefit is in delaying the decision by a couple of weeks.

We're over a year into the build. How could progress over the next few weeks be determinative of whether we can feasibly (substantially) complete the works in the course of next season?

This makes me concerned that, as it stands, we cannot complete in time for 2018/19, but Levy is putting off announcing as much until it is 100% (rather than 95%+) certain.

I have assumed that the lack of any official statement has been down to Wembley and Brent council, while planning decisions are ongoing you keep your mouth shut however confident you are.

I am of the opinion all will be announced and agreed to a timetable in order to maximise effect and not just to appease us on a forum. Don't worry, all will become clear. What will be will be.

Also not mentioned before, depending on the Factor of Safety used for the south stand, there may be a great potential positive for the south stand that it may rock during the game if fans are jumping and bouncing

Again, I dont see how we wont be ready for 2018/19 unless we find a roman burial ground under where the pitch will be

One way or another we will have a stadium ready, it may not be finished completely(mainly the inside fittings)

The whole point of us leaving is that we can speed up the build as well

The only part of this that is remotely plausible is the 2 year portion. The work is too far along to scale back. We are reaching a point where the work that is left can't be done in an occupied stadium. The work being scaled back does not make financial sense because the workers will be employed longer and the cost of the build will grow. We are in the last year at WHL in its current configuration. We may be at Wembley longer than planned but we will not play at WHL after the 15th of May this year.
I doubt that with Chelsea waiting in the wings.

Just a thought. How do the dimensions of the Amercian Foot ball pitch compare to that of our Football? Which is bigger?

An American football field is 53 yards wide or 48 meters which is much narrower than a soccer pitch. However both teams have large groups of substitute players and staff who mill around on the sideline on each side of the field. The field will be perfectly up to specifications width wise. The playing surface of the field is one hundred yards with 10 on each end for the endzone so a total of 120 yards or 109 meters. There are not really big run off areas in a lot of stadia in the US but the Tottenham set up will be tighter length wise than most in the United States.

How big is a soccer field compared to US football field? Both are about the same length, though soccer is about 20 yards wider. And there's a lot more running in soccer.

Soccer is played by two teams of 11 players each. The field for international matches is in the range of 110-120 yards long and 70-80 yards wide. The length must always be greater than the width.

American football has 11 players per side. The field is 120 yards long (100 yards of playing field with two 10 yard end zones) and 53 1/3 yards wide.

not a fan of orchestrated chanting...even more so when it bears no relation to the ebb and flow of the actual game...it's just a kind of analogue version of piped in music

Yeah, I'd rather sit in silence for most of the match too. :cautious:

Just thought it was interesting to see how Dortmund make their world famous atmosphere.

Personally I don't have a problem with the way Dortmund generate their atmosphere, as long as it's not going on where I sit. I see no problem with these shenanigans going on in the Wall but I'd like to sit at the other end, so I can see it rather than be part of it.

I always thought the orchestrated chanting was quite impressive until I really took notice when we played Dortmund at home. I guess I'd only seen highlights of it or small sections beforehand

They scored and almost absolutely no reaction at all, just carried on chanting. Thought it was really bizarre. It also gets really boring as they sound like they're just droning on and on

Think this kind of thing is almost inevitable for arsenal. They simply are a very quiet group of supporters, even with an old school ground such as highbury they were still infamous for being quiet - the highbury library. Whatever it is with the culture of their fans they will never be vocal - unless artificially stimulated.

One of the quietest set of fans in the NFL are the Atlanta Falcons, they've been caught out playing recordings of crowd noise through stadium speakers. I think that will be too much of a humiliation even for arsenal. But I wouldn't rule out them experimenting with fan conductors on microphones....probably one of those loons from arse tv might get the gig.

However....we are not arsenal. We don't have their problems. We don't need rent-a-chant
