Thanks- finally someone gets it. And thanks for not telling me to chill out.

This is the fucking "kit" thread, and I'm responding/ranting about what is actually rather obvious: our already-dreadful kit- when worn in Europe- looks just plain AWFUL.

And I'm sorry, but that just really fucking sucks.
I completely see where you're coming from. It does look awful in Europe with the white shorts.

But it will go down as the kit in which we're European Champions, so I guess history will look upon it differently.

I think people somewhat misunderstand our old Hummel shirt. Those arrows across the chest were a Hummel branding element, not a design feature of a unique Spurs shirt. Liking that element is somewhat akin to liking the Nike swoosh. Nothing wrong with that, just it's not quite what it's often thought to be.

Dude- seriously- please: this is not the usual "I don't like the kit" drivel-- even such as is spouted by me year in and year out! This is ALL-TIME AWFUL. Yeah- sure- I get it: if we "win" in the thing then sentimentally it'll be the greatest kit ever; hell, I'LL even buy one for God's sake. The point(s) being made is that not only is it ugly- hell, join the club; Spurs have had plenty of naff kits before- but that it fucking CLASHES HORRIBLY WITH WHITE SHORTS, to the point where it goes beyond ugly and into ridiculousness-- and this is something EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US SAID WHEN THE KIT FIRST WAS UNVEILED!!! Look, I hated the fucking thing but whatever- it's a kit- but with white shorts??!! It's a freaking EYESORE!!!! And it didn't have to be this way! As Phischy above so correctly pointed out: hell, make a "Champions League" home kit that DOESN'T clash horribly with white shorts: JOB DONE!

I know- I know: the match is the important thing-- sure, I get that. But how we look, sorry, is important! When Real Madrid come out in their all-white gorgeous kit(s), they look impressive! That team would never allow the shit-ass version of home shirt we have-- NEVER, EVER. And why? Because they protect their brand! Hell, even Liverpool these days gets it-- yes they've had naff kits (every team has) but on big nights in Europe, sorry to say, but they look great. Their simple, dark red kit is perfect, and doesn't have some, say, bright hot pink fade pattern at the bottom of the shirt to clash with their shorts and ruin the look. Their kit is solid- it's "them." Us on the other hand so often have these ridiculous designs, as if the kit makers say "Lads, it's tottenham-- do what the fuck you want-- their management won't say a bleedin' word so just mock up anything you want-- they'll ok it, don't worry." But this season takes the cake: it's literally as if a gooner designed a kit that would pass muster at home (because the blue fade pattern on the shirt- as ugly as it is- at least doesn't violently clash with shorts), knowing full well that when we played Champions League matches we would just look stupid.

Yes I'm focused on the match-- but as this is the kit thread I feel I am allowed to vent and, in so doing, actually say what all of us think: namely that for the first time ever our "All White in Europe" tradition works against us and makes us look like some League 1 team that accepted whaever the kit maker offered, just being happy to get some money for our coffers.

This is a once in a lifetime event; couldn't we at least just look halfway decent? So senseless, so fucking stupid/shortsighted of us. Appearances- like it or not- do make a difference- they just do. Sorry to rant but Tottenham just dumbfound me sometimes, getting the simplist, easiest-to-rectify shit so horribly wrong, this kit thing being a prime example.
I’d really love to see your wardrobe ?

I’d really love to see your wardrobe ?

Wtf does that even mean?!? I’m a normal guy who dresses decently; my wife actually buys all of my clothes for whatever that’s worth. I don’t wear expensive/designer/high fashion stuff at all; I own a few nice shirts is about the extent of it. I was a model for 25 years so yes, I would say I do get what looks good and what doesn’t but what’s with the snide ad hominem remarks from you and a couple others on here? Do YOU like how our current kit looks in Europe?

The kit a couple posts above this one- the dark navy blue with the gold AIA that Erik Lamela’s wearing- do you not think that that’s a beautiful shirt? It is, right? Well, then we both agree, as I happen to LOVE that kit. Simple. Streamlined. Easy on the eye— it’s not rocket science.

Our current kits are horrendous. Last year’s crop were great. Pretty much everyone agrees on that- pretty much everyone likes last season’s shirts. This year’s are straight garbage. That’s not really hard to understand.

This season’s home shirt combined with white shorts is awful— my six year old said that before I uttered a word to him- and his wardrobe is mostly clothes with dinosaurs on them.

I don't mind this year's shirts.
Not the best ones we have ever had, but a long way from awful imo.

But the home kit and white shorts don't go...

Not this fast; they’ve been “20 quid” for months now.

This season’s “effort” by Nike- from directly copying (and subsequently pasting onto our away shirt) the pattern from Barcelona’s training tops to the hideous, absurd “bottom blue drift”-shite on our home kit (which clashes so badly with white shorts that it is literally comical)- represents a new low. How anyone on earth ok’d these three monstrosities is beyond me.

Sadly, I actually wish we could just wear our garish green 3rd shirt on Championship Saturday, as at least- as much of an eyesore as it is- it’s definitely lucky, and I’ll always have a soft spot for it.

I agree with this seasons home being hideous, but to be fair every year to you the kit is hideous. even if it was lilywhite, with the perfect collar and a navy blue sponsor, you would find fault in the way the sponsor appeared.

just admit it your a whinger :ROFLMAO:

No kits ever gonna please everyone, but realistically they only last one season these days so it's not long enough for any new shirt to become iconic, or a horrendous design to haunt is for years to come.

With that, every now and then there's going to be some out there effort, as a plain white top with blue trim can only be adjusted so much to justify fans shelling out £60 every year.

The absolute worst tops we've had in recent years were the piss streaked CL qualifying one and the piss streaked cycling top, if we can just avoid piss streaks from now on then all's ok with the world.

I don't know why clubs don't just choose 3 designs and put it to a fan vote though, at least please the majority.

Imagine if the club got the new kit out now. How many would we sell in the lead up to the Madrid!? We always miss the opportunity to sell shirts though, so not likely.
They are probably happy to shift all the remaining shirts from this season.

Then once we become European champions they’ll bring the new ones out and shift even more
Manufacturing lead times will also play a part. The scheduling for the new kit would have been drawn up by Nike long before we even started getting sniffs of what the final design would be, possibly even before it was even decided on and almost certainly before we got to the CL final. The unlikelihood of us making the CL final would have played a part in determining the production schedule too. If we were a club considered likely to get to the final, then a production schedule could have been drawn up to cater for that.

For a massive business like Nike, with thousands of different production lines, each with their own schedule, altering one production schedule solely on the basis of one of their many business clients having a small change in circumstances (from Nike’s point of view) makes absolutely no business sense.

Likewise, the club wouldn’t entertain the possibility either because even if Nike could gear up in time, it would cost the club a hideous amount of money because of the costs involved for Nike to have to produce an unscheduled production run.

Unfortunately, it’s not a case of someone at Nike HQ simply pressing a button and the sweatshop production line then going into action. Even if that were possible, the logistics involved in shipping alone are mammoth and can’t be altered or added to in a very short space of time without massive expense.

I am a whinger- yes- but if you read what I wrote in subsequent posts I directly said I loved last year’s kit— all three of them!!! I obviously hated/hate the red “AIA,” but I still appreciated that Nike did a great job with what they had to work with (silk purse from a sow’s ear and all that). And I also LOVED the 2016-17 away kit (which I also said)— you know— the dark navy blue and goldish color AIA one....I bought two of ‘em!

So no I don’t “hate” everything— I just despise this season’s shirts; that they’re garbage and that the home kit looks just plain awful when paired with white shorts is beyond debate. And that- to me- is both sad and ridiculous.
