Just reading through a number of threads it seems people have a lot of great ideas they would put in place to "change" the game, preferably for the better.

Though it would he interesting to have a thread to see what people come up with.

Mine is a bit lightweight but I would like there to be a series of exhibition matches that take place at the end of the football season to pitch the "team of the year sides" from Europe's best leagues against each other complete with manager of the year.

Imagine the money involved, it could be the fabled "39th game" really (obviously with no points involved) which you could sell the rights for to the highest bidder and would he good fun.

I'd also like a "legends" 5 a side game to take place before premier league matches, with a half time penalty shoot out for draws. These results could form a league, which again could be a bit of fun and make the match day experience about more than getting pissed.

Good idea, but who would the Team of the Year play? Or do you mean it would be a tournament featuring the teams for England, Germany, Spain, Italy, etc?

I'd like to see dunk tanks installed in every dugout beneath the managers chairs. Every time your side lets a goal in the manager gets a soaking.

The way suspensions are doled out needs looking at.

For instance, if Pelle gets sent off in the 90th minute against us on Saturday when it's 1-1, we get a free-kick, and injury time against 10 men, but nothing else. However, the three teams who play Southampton next do benefit from Southampton having to play a second-choice striker. Why should they benefit and not Spurs?

So what I'd like to see is Pelle get suspended from the next Tottenham versus Southampton game, even if it's next season. And, if in the interim, they sell him, then we should get to pick a player who we don't want to face us. Managers could use their Friday pre-match conferences to identify the player they want dropped.

Journo: 'So, Mauricio, how will you cope with Mane on Saturday. He's been in blistering form.'

MoPo: 'We won't need to. I've just phoned Ronald and told him we're suspending him'.

I realise this isn't remotely practical - players' right to play; the impact on win bonuses; Premier League not wanting to see their best players not playing - but it would liven up the pre-match discussions and banter no end.

Only the team Captain should be allowed to address the ref

Give refs the option of calling on a TMO

If you have a shot and it hits the post or bar and goes out, I think it should be a corner.

I like it but can you imagine the confusion if it hits the side of the post and the debate on whether it was already out etc. What about when it just kisses the top of the bar or when it loops down on top of the bar?

The latter would undo the former I suspect. Players already swarm all over refs when they have no ability to influence their decision but imagine if they knew the ref could change his mind and consult someone else? Carnage.

I think if we could get the first law implementated for a few years then it might work.

I think refs should be placed in those hamster ball things, with a 3 metre radius. That way the players can't get near him. It also makes for great half time entertainment, and we could swap refs in and out with ease.

Should be a league system for referees. Constant poor performance sees them relegated.

There used to be one. It was called The Alex Ferguson Approval League.

As for new ideas, I'd like to see a separate card (for example, a purple card) for unsporting behaviour such as diving, kicking the ball away, or swearing at the ref. It would still count as part of the 'two cards and you're off' system, but after four purple cards have been picked up by a player they get an instant 1-match ban.

There need to be more retrospective bookings, e.g. yellow cards for diving. Mane should get banned for multiple games for that fucking disgusting display of foul ****ery.

I'd like to see players get a retrospective 10 match ban for diving and their team docked 6 points. I think this would practically eliminate diving from the game.

I'd like to see managers have the ability to challenge a refs decision during a game, like in tennis. A manager would have 3 challenges for example and each unsuccessful challenge would result in a loss of a challenge. If you win you keep the challenge.

I'd like to see TV replays for offside decisions.

I'd like to see all refs toughen up and book every player that crowds round them (Except the captain) and anyone that swears at them.

Also agree with retrospective bookings for diving. If they want to get it out of the game just get it out of the game.

Thats a tad extreme, we would have got relegated with Bale in the side!!

Also the TV decisions for offside is good in theory but say the ref stops the game for offside and the player was clean through, but it turns out it wasn't an offside, then what?

It may be a tad extreme but if you want to take diving out of the game you need to take away any incentive for doing it. Without a points deduction there is still a benefit to the team for a player to dive. If you have a punishment that 'fits' the crime you get a situation where players think it's a risk worth taking. If a team wins the league because a player won a penalty of freekick as the result of a dive, despite getting a lengthy ban himself he'll be regarded as a hero by the club and its fans so the chances are he'll take the risk. If his club were docked points and instead of winning the league he lost it for his club, he would be less inclined to try to cheat.

With the offside decissions the ref would let play continue for any close calls and baring and advantage to the defending side the ref would bring play back.

Slightly off subject but I think a players who starts in an offside position but his first touch is in an onside position shouldn't be regarded as offside.

I don't see what disadvantage the opposition have if he's touched the ball in an onside position.

I hate to see the game stopped when technically he hasn't gained any advantage.

I've said previosly. Scrap the cl and uefa and introduce an fa cup style competition for all the top divisions in europe. The smaller leagues (luxemborg, malta etc... Can start in earlier rounds).
Ban loans of players over 21. They either become part of your squad or you sell. No hoarding of players or sell on fees.
Introduce to all premier league players that if they are relegated and are earning over a certain amount. They automatically recieve a pay cut of 50%. To a minimum amount (say 20k). You can also introduce a relegation release fee.
This would scrap parachute payments.

A bit off topic but current managers and players should not be allowed to commentate on live media panels or live games.
