A lot of posters are going to be dismayed by this new deal for Rose and a while back I would have been one of them. However he appears to have adapted well to Mauricio's system and I believe we'll see a reborn Danny Rose this season. More importantly we now have two LFBs competing against each other to see who is going to be top dog.

Personally I don't feel that Danny was any good in this system, our youngster on loan at Chicago fire skinned Danny a few times. And on top of that he made challenge that would have been a penalty in the PL(took out an attacker after he had crossed the ball in the box). All this to say, I think you may be wrong, but I pray your are right.

Danny Rose is shit, he has a bad attitude and poor work rate to top off average at best ability. I'd rather sign Phil Neville up after a year out of football to cover for Davies.

I can just see him sitting on the bench with his bad attitude whinging and moaning and bringing the mood in the camp down. I would sell him for any money we could possibly bring in... If no one offers money for him I would swap him for a couple of mitre delta cosmics and a box of mars bars...

Maybe that's what Levy has in mind. Extend his contract and then sell.

I'd renew his contract only to compete for Townsend @ LW ( I'm not trying to be sarcastic) he's just to attack minded to be a LB. Above all else, his decision making is dreadful whether its choosing to go short or finding himself in the opponents half when we don't have possession. I sincerely hope he will have a fringe roll going forward, else we won't be keeping as many tidy whities as we'd like.

Adequate cover I suppose and good to use in the early stages of the Carling Cup and Europa League. He isn't great though. He also seems to have a bit of an attitude. Far from a fan's favourite either. I hope to God we're not paying him good wack.

Rose stays

Oh yeah awesome. This transfer window is a blast so far.

Fkkk.

There was me hoping that the 2 or 3 mil we might have got from a transfer to QPR, Burnley or Leicester might have gone towards a decent right or left back.

Levy hoping to cash in next year on Rose's (hopefully) mediocre performances in the league cup then ...

I admit Burnley and Leicester may have been aiming a tad high.

Anyone who watched him last year will know that he wasn't good enough for a side with top 4 aspirations. Poch must feel that he can coach him into a good player for us, so hopefully he's right...

He's likely to be 2nd choice left back, why are people getting so uptight??

Also means if we do decide to sell/he wants to leave in Jan or next summer, his value won't be affected by a dwindling contract.

If he's as poor as some make out, we wouldn't get much money for him this summer and then we'd still need to buy a replacement for his posititon and home grown quota. Hardly makes sense.

Whether we agree or not, Danny deserves a chance under Poch to prove himself and it wouldn't be the first time that a player has changed fans opinion if he can do it.

I'm willing to stay open minded and see what happens.

Don't really rate him to be honest but could be a good back up and may kick on under Poch we'll see, good luck to the lad though

One plus - If he'd left then a lot of people would have had to find a new first team hate-figure to vent on.

IMO - we'll show him off in the Wafer, hope Poch improves him (no evidence of that so far in the US apparently), and sell him in January. New contract puts both us, and him (comparative wages), in a better position for that.

It's nearly a rule of thumb now to be really skeptical of the prevailing opinion of a player on here. Usually, it is the understandable over-rating of a player when he really isn't all that a club's own fans make out - see previously for BAE, Sandro, and somewhat for Vertonghen.

But in this case, there's far too many harsh critics of Rose. I've seen plenty of games when he's been our side's man-of-the-match. Last season was a weird one, with many trouncing and other games won when we weren't really at it. Rose was not to blame for all or most of the negative stuff, though you wouldn't get that impression on here.

He can be erratic from game to game, but that doesn't mean his good performances are to be dismissed. Walker is erratic too. But they both have the tenacity and engine to really dominate their flanks and will hopefully gain consistency with experience.

A five year deal under the new manager is a massive boost for him personally. Same duration as Lloris and the manager himself. Good luck to him. I wonder if any of them will still be here in 2018/19.
