Napoli ‘do not intend to pay’ pre-agreed fee to keep Ndombélé, ‘Thinking of asking for a discount’

Sent to Napoli on loan until the end of the season, Tanguy Ndombélé could still return to Tottenham once the campaign is over. That’s because the option to buy in the loan is not mandatory, and a lot could depend on how the player fares going forward.

The Tottenham loanee has enjoyed a very decent first half of the season under Luciano Spalletti, slowly coming into his own as time has gone on, and with the club now in a comfortable position at the top of Serie A, they are looking towards the future.

Think it's an option clause. Hopefully somebody else will want him too.

I had thought he was a regular starter for Napoli this season, but apparently he's primarily a sub and has only played more than 45 minutes in the league four times so far. :(

Did Levy miss class in college where they discussed sunk cost fallacy? Cuz this is a prime example. Prefer to just cut him loose with the best financial outcome as possible and move on.

And do not sign any long term contracts like this again. Chelsea is going to learn this pain in the near future as not all of their long term signings are going to be a hit.

If anything says ‘Levy has lost it’ it’s other clubs asking him for a discount.

He got a double first from Cambridge in economics and land economy so I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that he probably knows what sunk cost fallacy is. But maybe you should email him and check ?

Aw - you may need to check your sarcasm meter - it's on the fritz. Of course I know he knows. Whether he applies it is another matter.

Getting him back would be like a new signing.

And Levy's been hearing that we have been crying out for some of those of late, so brace yourselves for an Ndombele return with a marching band welcome and all the other bells and whistles. :sneaky:

No, they won't. They are Chelsea FC, one of the jammiest club in the entire Universe. Every other clubs except us will happily do business with them.

I can see Levy bringing Poch back and ask him to utilize Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sessegnon to salvage their value

Hopefully Bohley will give us £100 million for him.
Not aimed to be a dig at your personally, but these constant (and predictable) Boehly digs are getting repetitive. Just my onions of course.

He’s played less than an hour across 5 games since the turn of the year which doesn’t exactly scream steaming into form for the second half of the season.

The article is irrelevant though - it’s basically a club briefing so of course it puts their view across. We should just take the best offer we can find in the summer and move on, but of course we won’t. Levy will hold out for an unrealistic price and loan him out again
