Internationals during the season makes no sense. Without them the season could finish earlier, and then there would be time for a few friendlies before a competition. Qualifiers one summer, followed by main competition the next.

It feels like England are playing all the time. Not sure if that's true or just how I perceive it, but it feels like England are playing a lot more games than they were 20 years ago - I need to count the games and work it out
