I dont like the precision of these var reviews. For calls as close.as the Jesus goalmthe benefit of the doubt should go the attackers way.

I think they should just go to "clear and obvious" on all rulings, let the refs ref. If the lino misses an offside and it's as close as sterling was that isn't clear and obvious and the goal should stand, if you have an incident like Cardiff and the chavs which was clear it gets pulled back. I think most fans can could agree that had the goal been given last year, you wouldn't hear many complaints.

Totally agree with you.
Even if when the player is interpreted to have played the ball VAR, is out by a couple of milliseconds it could affect whether a player is onside or not. The technology is not perfect as amongst other things needs human intervention to decide the exact millisecond when the ball was passed.

Therefore needs to be an umpires call equivalent, where we stick with the on-field decision unless it is clear. A couple of millimetres or centimetres here or there has enough ambiguity to it. What that distance should be, I am not sure though.

The VAR officials say offside is a matter of fact, either onside or not, but I disagree, anything with human intervention to determine time or distance with naked eye is not a fact, unlike goalline technology which does not need human intervention, and we can all get behind that.

They managed to make our game look even. Didn’t even show Lucas’s good headed chance.

Going to watch the second showing in a mo but 70% possession with 31 v 7 shots and 14 corners to zero would suggest the MOTD wallies were not too fussed about our match.

I tend to agree. If its so marginal that you can barely tell even with the replay then the decision on the pitch should stand IMO. It's not like the attacking player is really gaining any advantage from that anyway. I appreciate that they have to draw the line somewhere but I think it should have to be clearly irrefutably an incorrect decision for it to be overturned.

Offside decisions should be judged by the position of the players feet. The current rulings are ridiculous!!

People like Lukaku have no chance with their body silhouettes

Short players will have an advantage over taller players! The people who decided that any part of the body can be in an offside position are completely and utterly insane!!

Not a fan of the new CGI studio. The pundits sat in front of a green screen with the colours washed out looks crap.

The needlessly curved league table is a stroke of genius :banghead:

Any part of the body? Has that changed then? Was only a part of the body you could score a goal from previously, i.e. hands and arms don't count.

They curved it so they could show arsenal amongst the front runners.... on 0 points.
Once all their favourites are at the top, then they can put all those Top of the pops lenses back in their case.

Just caught up with MotD2. Dear me, the falling over themselves to decry the VAR decision. It's embarrassing.

Guarantee that if it had been the other way round they'd be all "mm-hmm, well that's the rules now, have to accept it."

I know they have to pack in all the games and they may be subject to fine print contractual obligations about how much of a match they can show - but the editing on MOTD is always so poor.
The punditry (Shearer and P Neville in particular) is awful.
