Well worth a read - the man is as honest as they come and for that I hope he stays with us and continues to build the best team I have seen since the Burkinshaw days. Keep the faith. COYS!

'It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory.'

Great comments but ya fked up today Poch :(
A bit harsh. But why Poch didn't go with the same line ups that were so brilliant against Watford and Bournemouth, I'd never know. Playing Son, who is best as an auxiliary striker, as wing-back against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals is extremely risky, especially as it had never been done before. If that was an alternative, we should have try it against the two aforementioned teams first.

I thought we did well and on another day could easily have won. After Alli equalised I thought we'd win it in normal time but the goal from Hazard won the game. On the other points I would've played Walker and Davies, not that Son and Trippier have done anything wrong. To say it wasn't a penalty is clutching at straws. In the ground my reaction was Son hardly touched him but seeing the replay he got more of the man than the ball. On to Palace I guess...

I know but it was soft. He didn't get any of the man. The man got him and the ref fell for it. Spurs gave those 1st two goals away as i see it.

Davies was injured so effectively we didn't have a LB

I think playing Son it that position and not starting with Walker was a tactical mistake. The boys gave it all but is was not our day, we have to learn to be more clinical. COYS

They seemed to score every chance they had. We gifted them a pen. We have 10 corners and no goal, then they get 1 and score. Amazing no one marked Hazard, I would be following him round constantly. We still outplayed them for majority of match, just need to wise up on giving away fk and pens cheaply and make the most of the chances we make. And Mark at corners!

Good Comments by Poch. He's a great manager and, like our team, he's still learning. In my opinion, 6 times out of 10 we win that game. Individual defensive errors and a one-in-a-hundred strike did for us, But overall we bossed them and scored two of our own. Sadly that was one of the 4 out of 10 they win. More thoughts on my new blog.

The ref was the deciding factor. Chelsea broke up our play in midfield by syndical tackling in areas that on the face of it didn't matter. It was planned and they got away with it. If there had been a professional referee he would have booked them and they would then have been at risk of a red. Until we have referees that understand what is happening on the pitch and the deliberate gamesmanship. Also I thought if you went up to the referee and got in their faces it was a booking. The pen was given for a blatant dive. He could have hurdled him. I get its Son's mistake. But when Bale did it he was called a cheat.

In which case, Poch should use Vertonghen in the left back position, and play Dier and Alderweireld as centre back, with Wanyama in the holding midfield position. As it was, defensively we were unbalanced. (Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think have not let in four goals in the past 2 seasons.) That said, we have to remember Poch is a young coach, and like our team, is learning and garnishing respect in all quarters. After all, how many of us have heard of Poch before his joining Southampton?

Agree in some ways. Looking at the whole season as a whole, we don't have much to complain, as this is the first time we were hard done by a referee's decision, while we have gotten away with a few (Walker's push on Sterling at Man. City, which should earn him a red card, is the most memorable.)

Posted this in the match thread:

Vertonghen's against Moses wouldn't have worked I think, his pace doesn't match up and taking Vertonghen out of the centre with Toby would have weakened our defence somewhat. We always knew that our left side minus Rose was our achilees heel and there was a danger that we'd get picked off against the best team and so it proved.
So I can certainly see the logic and it probably would have worked against the majority of other teams but playing at this level is fine margins and we were punished...like you said we need to move on.

Basically these arguments are pure hindsight and focusing on that tactical change isn't the reason we lost.

I know it's off subject but did anyone notice how biased Danny Murphy is against Spurs ?- he seems to be more anti than any of the other negative pundits - strange when he's played for our great club

He hardly got any playing time with us. Like Wimmer right now, he wasn't trusted enough to be a starter, just a bench warmer. That might explains his negative view of us.

yep it was pretty clearly stated he had an injury so why are people still going on about the formation change? If I want to be hyper critical he could have put vertonghen there but he isn't a wing back so he was caught in the middle of the two. Attacking intent but not a great defender or defending with not a great attacker. As with Conte. He had an eye on the game midweek. so made the only changes he could. we weren't exactly regularly exposed on Saturday. The pen was annoying but not a pen. apart from that Son didn't do that much wrong.
