Terry I think, always makes a meal of challenges like that. Mido was going mad, it was only 5mins in.

went to that game, brilliant strikers play all round!!! keano and berba OMG

Yeah me too, think it was the one where after our fourth Berbs did the hand cross thing to signal gameover. It's also the game where I noticed a pigeon in the rafters (not sure why it was significant) and pointed it to a mate only for us both to miss Berbs scoring our 4th.

I remember the Peace Cup win so well, back then it was hard to get spurs games on tv or even stream here in Denmark, but i got to watch the Peace Cup on Eurosport. Remember i was excited to see our new players like Tainio and Routledge (lol)

If you look at the lineups, that was actually a VERY strong Lyon team we beat that day. Had me confident for the season, and we started so well, with Routledge unfortunately injured in the first match against Pompey away. We just kept winning until the inevitable loss to Chelsea at home where Mido was red carded in the 25th min or something.

Really feel this was where it all started (y)

The funny thing is though he played much better for us when he was fat during his loan spell.
The next season he turned up slim and couldnt hit a cows arse with a banjo

Not true, he scored 11 goals in 27 games that season, that was his big season of success (in the tight Kappa kit). It was when Berba arrived that he fell away.

I remember watching this, Mido had a great game and that we was in for a good season. Even remember the stadium almost being empty at the start of the match. Then locals watching on TV, saw a really good game and all rushed to the stadium and packed it out.

This was really the start of it all really.

After all the horror that went on before and the dark days, when fighting relegation and finishing in the bottom half of the table consistently.

Sounds a bit mental but that second goal of ours has been one of my favourite ever Spurs goals since we scored it - the ball out to Mido, Mido's amazing cross in and Keane's bullet header - absolutely stunning goal.

I agree as well it was an amazing feeling to be so excited about Spurs at least, after so many years of dross and getting excited by signing Ruel Fox or Jose Dominguez, we had this incredibly exciting brand-new team with loads of youngsters, a cool new manager, and it just felt like the start of something really big.

I maintain that if it hadn't been for the two oil-money scumbag clubs, we'd have spent the last 5 years or so fighting for the title with United and probably Arsenal. Oil/gas ****s.

Whilst I'm not as harsh as you on his wasted talent, I feel similarly.

He showed, and not just in a moment or two but for entire games, albeit only few in number, his potential. He could have been a real animal. He had it all. Strength, control and whilst not a Usain Bolt, quick. I guess putting it all together is the hardest talent to have. A real shame, as he could, as you say, been a great #9. One of the best in the league.

Bah, the blow was softened when we got Berbatov, who had his own problems. He should be remembered with the greats of his generation but won't be, which is a real waste. Still, I doubt he'll lose any sleep over that.

I didn't think I was being that harsh; as I say, I really liked the guy, and still have some magic memories—like when he came on as a late sub against Arsenal in that CC semi (after telling City to do one at half-time) and almost turned it round with a goal and a shot that went agonisingly wide. However, he was an absolute fool to himself and I find it sad and frustrating that he pissed away his considerable potential.

Yes, you weren't that harsh really. Maybe I was less disappointed in him than you though and looking back, that was a mistake. I guess I just got lost in the Berbatov mania too quickly to realise what a waste it was at the time.

You just knew that as the chins rapidly grew in number during his injury lay-offs it would end badly. Hell, the worries some had about making the deal permanent couldn't even have included it going pear-shaped almost instantly. Then the press stuff started. It just went to pot so damned quickly.

He could be basking in the glory of just coming off his peak yrs right now. Instead he's not even playing anymore.

Shame.

I thought he was a very good striker for us and always popped up with some goals. He almost took it into extra time at Arsenal's place in the league cup he was so unlucky. He was just prone to gaining weight and consitency.

Just like Kanoute who was briiliant on his day you wonder what would have happened if they had done their best every match

Had they performed to their best every game they would have been World Class, as would Ade. Unfortunately they do it far less than that (Nearer 25%!) It's what sorts the men out from the boys

I hated the idea of Little & Large. I felt Mido & Berba could've played together

Pav was a bit like that too, anonymous for most of the game but would then hoon a twenty yarder into the top corner
