Yeah reading between the lines I assume Poch had some top, tier 1 targets. We tried for them and couldn't get any over the line/wouldn't pay up so Dan came back with some Levyball options (Andre Gomes, etc) and Poch said no.

I understand Poch's attitude here, but really wish we'd just signed 1 bloody midfielder on loan at the very least. Not getting anyone in has left us ridiculously short, especially once Dembele sailed off into the sunset.

Agreed. Not getting in a replacement for Dembele was baffling.

Maybe we need better scouts.
Why have we missed out on players like Grealish, Maddison, about 3 players from Wolves etc. How does this happen, that those teams can pick up players good enough for our squad to get a decent amount of football but we can't?

How comes when we do buy those kinds of players, they're shit? Sack the scouts, get new ones.
Same two people Levy and Poch - the scouts identified them, if they hadn't we wouldn't have heard on the grape vine we were interested otherwise, would we?

The two most important people in that four man transfer committee are the ones who 'know best', seems to be a recurring theme.

The outlier factor is that some of these players maybe, just maybe, didn't fancy being on the bench and I am sure most would tip their hat for wanting to play rather than sit on the bench - or it could be the age old go to - we just don't pay enough.

As usual the truth is probably all somewhere in between with all this.

Poch saying he might leave if we win, he might leave if we lose is just his way of saying that the result won't have any impact on the decision.

Money was there, and we didn't use it up on 2nd/3rd tier picks.

So we can go harder for Poch's preferred players this summer?

Moving on from this signings issue , Poch was very straight with the question 'Are you leaving Spurs if you win CL'

He was affirmative and said 'if we don't win then , maybe' . OK ,in the heat of the post match presser, true . It was generally treated
as not meaning anything , but the clear , straight faced, 'Maybe' tells me that he is considering his options at least .

Not sure people are hearing it when he keeps on mentioning the end of this '5 year Chapter' . Sounds to me like he feels he has reached the end of something...yes , maybe a new chapter starts at Spurs , but IMO there is a chance he means elsewhere .

I don't really care who didn't spend the money. I do care that we've fallen well of the pace in the title race after February as a direct result of over tired, over used players getting injured. If Poch chose not to sign anyone he needs to re-think this plan.
We need a bit of youth that we can depend all next season. Even if they're just good back ups. We can't go into games with Skipp, KWP, Foyth, Dier, *Lamela, Llorente and Davies as our subs every week.

*Lamela if fit even.

It's no good saying that was only the bench because X, Y and Z were injured. That's gonna keep happening.
Its not about not signing anyone but about signing the right players..... The ones that will be able to do what last night's bunch did.

Poch wasn’t bothered about having sissoko, Poch wasn’t bothered about Lucas either. Wonder who he did want.

you've answered your own question. We're at a level now the calibre of player moving forward is so important , i am by no means turning a nose up at players that went to Wolves Leicester etc they wouldn't have the pressures playing there , playing for THFC now is a demand. I reckon Poch understands this fully we've already been down that road now at the junction and we have to follow Liverpools example of identifying number 1 target first and foremost once we get those we can add one or two along with our development players into the mix.

I back Poch stance he's kept to the 5 year deal agreed with Levy. The next phase is now.

I don't disagree, all I'm saying is don't blame it on Levy.

We could have strengthened!!!

"Tielemans? No, I only want players who will improve us. The spot where Dembele used to sit and a broken Wanyama are of a far higher standard."

Yeah, it's probably not the right time to raise questions about anything Pochettino related, but if his targets are (as an example) Kante and De Bruyne or nobody, then he's gonna have a bad time.

Like De Jong?

You have to have more than one option, because that #1 choice might not see us as their primary destination.

Yeah if we get get pick #1 this summer I hope there's a pick 2, we can't go another summer without adding players.

The journey is just beginning the hard work starts now. Credit must also go to Dan Levy Joe Lewis he got Poch the best move his made along with the stadium build. He has involved Poch in all the transformations. We've had to deal with Wembely injuries limited to no funds due to stadium build and not the right players available. We have the right management team in place Poch Levy Lewis whoever we have to back the manager in the market , you can't stand around in football.

Even before tonights epic result against Ajax we have to identify and get the right players in

Poch wasn't Levy's choice even if he loves him now(y)

Honestly think it's just part of his plan to keep Levy on his toes and force him to get the players now. We're getting ITK that we are making moves for players now, so hopefully Levy is listening and starting to be more proactive with Poch's no.1 targets.

But Poch has offered vague warnings in the past to be let down by not getting his prime targets. Maybe this is his way of giving Levy a serious warning.

I’ve been going over this and watched the presser again. The journo asks the question and Poch replies kind of laughing. The reporters asks again and Poch looks confused and looks to his right as if for clarification of the question. Poch then turns back to the journo and looks a tad pissed off and replies again, to me nearly trolling the journo. Maybe I have rose tinted spectacles on.

The thing is if he does want to move on.... where will he go? All the posts that would be a step up are taken. My only fear could be united but no way they sack Ole. As far as I can see he stays at least another season.

But why would you work so so hard and suffer so much to get a club so far and then leave for another club who have a hell of a ton of rebuilding to do? Just to suffer all of the same things once again? Surely, you reap the benefits of your hard work and look forward to the next phase?

Poch admitted he turned down Real so he's not going anywhere near Man Utd.

But we don't need to buy big name players, this is the problem. We need to have clued up scouts who can sign the talent before they hit the radar.
Those players will ultimately move on to bigger clubs for big fees. We could have had Maddison from Norwich for peanuts. If we'd pulled our fingers out, we'd have had Grealish in June/July.
Our scouts and negotiators aren't doing their jobs.
If all you want is a £70m marquee signing you might as well sack the scouts.
