Gambled trying to get him cheaper and it backfired yes. That however was last Summer, and some of the squad depth issues could have been addressed in January be it temporary or permanent. The fact that they weren't is solely down to Poch.
Would love to know the permanent option that Poch turned down. Seems pretty obvious that the temporary option was Tielemans as Leicester only got him on a loan with no buy option. I can't even remember players we were solidly linked to in the winter.

I've never been able to get my head around this. At first I thought it might have been because he was willing to give Amos, Skipp and KWP chances but the same dross that we were actively trying to offload for peanuts are still playing. It's utterly bizarre.

Something isn't right.

Losing 6 games in the row away from home and close to throwing champions league football away for next season.

Buck stops with Poch I’m afraid. He’s the manager.

Correct he’s the manager, infact the only manager of a club who’s gone 18 months without adding a player to his squad and yet taking his team to the CL semi-final and 3rd place in the league.

it's not the first time though is it, you can count them by my meltdowns, they happen towards the end of every season. I can tell you next time Poch's Spurs will show a sign of trouble again, it's in exactly one years time.

so in the 2016/17 & the 2017/18 seasons we lost 2 games in the league after January

was you a sleep then or do you only remember the bad 1's which this is the worst, due to injuries, burnout thanks to the WC, no preseason, no stadium and no transfers.

really looking forwards to your meltdown this time next season

Yeah I can’t believe some were defending the decision at the time. £10mill as opposed to nothing is a big amount etc, need to do the right thing by Dembele, it’s the correct “business” decision and other such bollocks.

The most important business is that which plays itself out on the pitch, and in that regard the decision was borderline negligent. Especially with so many other sick notes in the squad.

Our general squad and succession planning is not one befitting a big club.

You either ignore post you don't like, and I'm sure I've quoted you on this before.

when we sold Dembele, Poch had already promised Foyth a place in the Champs League squad. we either had to buy a HG player which there isn't many in the Dembele mould or we needed to sell another player. with our injury list we never had many to sell

Did we not name 3 keepers in the CL squad? Some would say unnecessarily. And what about the PL squad?

As for the home grown midfielder, we made an absolute dogs dinner of the Grealish deal.

The home grown rules and any squad issues are all things we’ve known well in advance. It’s up to us as a club to get it right. We’ve failed to do so.

Ramos imo was harshly done by

I fear a similar situation to be happening next season(in regards to an exodus)

We started this team against Chelsea in the final
Robinson, Hutton, Woodgate, King, Chimbonda, Lennon, Jenas, Zokora, Malbranque, Berbatov, Keane with Huddlestone, Taino and Kaboul coming off the bench.

That summer we lost Robinson, Chimbonda, Malbranque, Berbatov and Keane as well as Taino and Kaboul. Now the latter weren't huge players for us but we lost 7 of the 14 players that played in the final. He then had a squad that had holes and needed time to adjust. Players like Malbranque, Berbatov and Keane were huge for us whilst Robinson who was poor was still a stable keeper

Now this summer I fear we may see a huge upheaval and not have the same amount of quality come in.
The players stopped playing for him after the league cup final as he made it clear that none of them were good enough and many would be sold. So everyone was demoralised and good players left, but Ramos was Levyed and players were not replaced.

MP has also indicated that we will rebuild this summer. 7 players could well go this time round as well, and apart from those who can barely walk, anyone could be sold, including the very spine of the team.
So I agree these too are unsettling times for the players and see why they might not put themselves out for CL football next season when they will not be here.

As for MP, he is actively welcoming the apocalypse, so I'll have have no sympathy for him next season if things are not to his liking.

yes we did name 3 GK in the CL squad, and all 3 were used in the CL, PSV away Lloris sent off, Vorm replaced, PSV at home Gazzaniga

I agree with what happened with Grealish in the summer, and I agree that we have messed up big time with previous signings that have overloaded us with non HG. it is up to the club to get it right, and they should of done that years ago

He need to fucking sort it out

This last two months an absolute cluster fuck.

I’m not having it that there are no players to beef this squad for reasonable money.

It’s not worth contemplating what happens if we miss Top 4.

Let’s be frank, our league form has been pretty ropey for ages. We’ve ground results out with this team’s spirit, but haven’t been anywhere near as convincing as the past couple of seasons.

Poch has always been very quick to stop poor form in the past. He hasn’t been able to turn it around since February...

A rather fluke run in the champions league has papered over a very poor 4-5 months for the club. Losing 13 games in a season is shockingly bad. And he is very stubborn with his approach and attitude towards systems and certain players.

Getting quite concerned by this now. Is he going as stale as the group of players?

I wish he would swallow his pride and give VJ a start. He can't do any worse than the others at the moment.

We should have been 3 goals up inside 30 minutes.

Selection wasn't the problem today other than Dier - but that's because we have no one else and Vic needed the rest ahead of CL. Not that he got it...

In the summer and January we couldn't possibly improve, but now we need a major rebuild? Something doesn't add up.

Unless this hints at Pochettino being given an absolute monster budget in the summer then someone/all of them were pissing in our pocket and telling us its raining.

I totally disagree with you regarding Pochettinho being stubborn to system changes or changing players completely wrong.

I really don't want to make excuses we've been hit badly with injuries at key points the squads been bursting at the seems I think we have numbers but not the quality.

It's such a tricky one because Poch has worked wonders for us to be where we are but at the same time he has to shoulder some of the responsibly for our cluster fuck transfer strategy.

I mean getting rid of Dembele and not replacing was just wreckless.

3 at the back? Never works.

Lack of pace in attack for last 3 years?

Never been able to work out how to break down teams that sit deep?

The awful passing out from the back and playing triangles around our box when Lloris can’t kick? How often do we concede a goal having given the ball away from this situation?

Persistence with Tripper and not trying Walker-Peters?

Alli and Eriksen unstoppable even when we had others fit and they were poor?

Stubbornness in the transfer market?

Don’t get me wrong, I love Poch. He has done amazingly well. But he needs to have a serious look at himself and find ways to improve.

The only way he'll improve is for Levy to boost his transfer kitty. I'm fully behind Pochettinho in the transfer market not buying second rate and insisting on first choice...will not blame him for that.

Possession football in the main has got us consecutive CL football and we've tended to get top 234, QF SF and Finals in various cups. The final step is squad investment imo.

I agree with KWP but he has given Foyth opportunities.
