Pochettinho claiming our second half performance against United was the best he'd seen since taking over, is rubbish. I love Pochettinho but that statement sends out the wrong message imo. I'm not saying he should do a Mourinho and single players out but he was within his rights to stress to the players the fine margins between success and failure.... I don't know wants happened all of a sudden with our poor form at Wembley also with our mind set against sides in the top 6 it's a poor record.
Have you thought what he says to the press and what he says to the players privately may not be the same ?

The poor performances at Wembley? I’m fairly sure it includes the following reasons:

1. The coaching staff and squad were led to believe they were returning to the Lane and all the pre-season preparation was geared towards that. You can’t change that mind set with a flick of a switch. They are feeling the same disappointment and frustration as we fans are feeling.

2. Irrelevant of what Poch and the players are saying. They don’t like playing at soulless Wembley. It’s simply not home.

And we were far from poor yesterday.

I can't imagine Poch is going to be happy with us targeting faff like Bowen and Aarons. They aren't even areas of need in the squad.

A real lack of backing in the market. I really don't pay too much heed to his words, I think there is a very good chance he will go to United, especially if he keeps getting no backing in the market.

Go to United he'll be able to sign players like Koubalily and De Jong. At Spurs he gets Bowen and Aarons. You have to be delusional to think Poch feels this will allow him to fulfill his ambition of winning the league.

The result was poor given our dominance, our performance in front of goal was absolutely poor (that can happen), out of 11 saves we couldn't score one, in my books that's a poor performance (in from of goal).

Don't get me wrong football is a funny game we were defending stoutly against Chelsea and we could say it was a defensive master class performance although Chelsea might feel aggrieved, against United second half I thought we battered them we constantly breaching their defence with one on one headers shoots with their keeper and we failed to put the ball in the onion basket..its painful because we had so many good opportunities to reflect what should of been a good performance.

To be fair to the team yesterday and to Poch, they aren't being helped by Levy to ensure that we don't have a situation like yesterday with no suitable alternative to Sissoko. As soon as we changed the system they scored. If Sissoko had came of yesterday when he should have had, because we had a like for like change we wouldn't have conceded.

One thing that will be interesting if Poch does stay in the summer, will he be ruthless and cut some players who have been good for him, but are not up to scratch any more? The best managers are absolutely ruthless when it comes to knowing when to let people go. Maybe because of our limited finances, he’s not been able to do it, but surely the bell’s tolling for Trippier and Lloris.

It doesn't make sense to cut anyone unless you can replace them with someone better. I don't know of a keeper better than Lloris that we can realistically get, and neither KWP or Airier are significant upgrades on Trippier, although I will concede that they both suit Pochs style more.

I'm all for cutting people if we can improve but given our lack of funding I dont think we'll be able to upgrade either of those positions and we have far more pressing needs in other roles, especially given the future of both Eriksen and Toby are up in the air

That's all may be's. Trippier played a stupid ball Lingard intercepted and Pogba played in sweet diagonal ball into space with our defence split and Rashford running.

It's funny how no one is contributing to the thread lets all laugh at Liverpool anymore, because we have to learn from their transfers, it's better to buy want the manager wants and be patient on the players he needs. I bet Levy made money available but Poch is waiting for the correct player/s...i really hope that is the case

You may end up being right - I personally believe Poch will stay - but Utd are hardly killing it in the transfer market currently either. They had an incredibly poor transfer window themselves despite all of their money and 'elite status'. Saying they are just going to waltz up and sign players like those mentioned is no given either. Especially if they fail for CL again.

They also would never have bothered signing Dele from MK Dons either, yet I bet they'd take him in a heartbeat now.

I agree we certainly need to change how we operate going forward, and TBF we have clearly been sniffing around De Jong, De Ligt and Ndombele over the last year or so (whom no elite club have completed a deal for yet either). To suggest he's going to walk because we might want to sign Jarrod Bowen is buying into the media narrative a lot more than what Poch is repeatedly saying (including trying to clarify over and over its not just about money).

We have to be careful not to take Poch's loyalty for granted, and I certainly wish Levy can pull something out of the hat this month to reaffirm our ambition to him, but I'd be astounded if he could manage to pull off a groundbreaking transfer mid season.

He could also play FM if he wanted to sign whoever he wants.

So fed up of hearing the opinion that he will go to a bigger club because he could buy whoever he wants. For Pochettino, it's so bloody obvious that transfer dealings are so secondary compared to coaching and developing players, which seems different to many managers now a days.

Laughable. Ranting because of a tiny whisper of ITK.

Do you want him to do a Mourinho and criticise his players in public?

He's been a brilliant keeper for us, but he's been on a downward trajectory in performance levels for at least three seasons now. Personally, I really think we should be scouting heavily for a young keeper to at least come in and heavily pressurise him. Still not totally convinced by Gaza as a potential No 1.

If he’d of gone there he would have just turned into the next Nick Powell
