Matt Hughes is a ****

I keep using that word a great deal lately - need to think of a harsher word that really explains what I think about them

I just dont get how these people have a living, there are one or two out there who i like such as Darren Lewis but in the main - the majority are ****s.

Having read both pieces I'd genuinely wager a decent amount Hughes's 'source' is Guillem Balague. The way both quotes read are the exact way he speaks if (hate yourself enough to) watch any his YouTube videos.

If it is him, then his input will have more to do with Real than it will to do with Utd.

Back to back days where AS has linked our top players to Real again - first the 'story' on Eriksen and one yesterday/today about Kane and his availability.

Hughes has very little substance - ever. Click bate for the broadsheet readers.

Plenty of errors in the article too.

He mentions Poch left Espanyol for Southampton, made the decision on the toilet apparently. He left Espanyol in November - sacked or 'mutual consent' and joined Southampton in January. Then they talk about Spurs winning 3-1 at Old Trafford in August. It was 3-0. Small things but the entire piece lacks substance and they haven't even got basic facts right.

I think he got confused between Poch leaving Espanyol and where he got the majority of his article from in this part.

Poch won't leave and I think United will end up looking embarrassed as they are faced with their current position as a club in relation to us.

Poch has invested too much of himself to walk away if there is still potential to grow here to go to a team that's finished below us 3 out of the last 4 years (including this year).
The stadium and increased revenue/profit should be enough for the next couple of seasons.
And after that it depends on the timescale for paying off the stadium and further revenue increase from improved commercial deals, redevelopment, event expansion etc.
United’s current position is the biggest club in the world. They’ll have egg on their face for all of 2 minutes IF(and that is a massive IF) Poch rejects them before going after Conte or Allegri and end up winning the title next season anyway after spending loads on that horrific defense.

Matt Hughes in the Times with an absolute bullshit article this morning coming across as ITK.

Saying Poch genuinely believes he can’t win major trophies at Spurs so is very tempted at revitalising a fallen giant at United and creating a dynasty.

Said he only signed a new contract in the summer to ensure his coaches got pay rises and it wasn’t a sign of his loyalty to Spurs.

Spurs accept Poch owes us nothing and won’t stand in his way of leaving and Levy will just want big money to let him go.

Moura and Sissoko were Levy signings not Poch.

Matt Hughes hates us. I’ve probably seen 20 articles written by him on us and not one has been positive.

I still don't think Poch will leave us at this time especially not for an EPL team. He will no doubt one day go to RM but it sounds like they might be lining up Mourinho very soon for this job and it is one that will always come back at the most every three years. ManU will also come back as United will not get another Ferguson for a long while if ever. Anything but complete success at ManU is failure because it is all measured against Ferguson. Give it another five years then the job becomes worth having.

Shreeves claiming on Twitter that the only agenda him and Matt Hughes have is to establish the truth.

Shreeves seems like the kind of bloke who would lock you in a room because he just farted and wanted you to enjoy it with him.

That Matt Hughes piece just doesn't mesh with the man Poch claims to be, and I believe is. It is true we probably owe Poch nothing but at the same time he is absolutely vital to us and is in the middle of an unfinished project. Leaving now would hurt us. Poch has built so much here no way would he be able to throw that away so coldly IMHO.

Especially for more transfer money - which again he keeps saying isn't what he means when he says WE need to operate differently.

I imagine Poch does feel loyalty to the club, levy, players and fans, even if he doesn't have to, just because he is that bloody good a bloke.

Reading about Poch, hearing his quotes, I really think we have a special manager. If he bins us now to start from scratch at Utd, just for a bigger wage and transfer budget, all under Fergie's shadow, he's effectively gone against everything he's said over the years. I think that's what JJ was alluding to a few weeks back.

I think poch has become the master of playing the press. They are all over the place. Levy must love all the publicity we’re getting keep it coming.

Agree. He uses "long term confidant", so lets narrow it down, must be Poch's Mrs, his barber or his tailor, only one of these would be truly ITK though:cautious:

Love it:

Gareth Southgate added to Man Utd's shortlist as fears grow Mauricio Pochettino will stay at Spurs

Manchester United are considering an approach to Gareth Southgate, the England manager, as they become increasingly concerned that Mauricio Pochettino will stay at Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

United go to Wembley Stadium on Sunday to face Pochettino’s Spurs team with no certainty yet that the Argentinian is prepared to give up on five years at his current club to become the fourth permanent manager at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. While Pochettino remains the first choice of United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, the club are aware that it is by no means certain he will agree to come.

Wow, I've finally managed to catch up with this thread having not read anything for a few days after jose was sacked. One thing that hasn't been mentioned yet that occurs to me is, I wonder whether one of the reasons we didn't spend anything in the summer was because Poch and his team thought post World Cup and with the Dembele and Wayama situations that we couldn't realistically fight for the title even with bringing in whatever was on offer but would be able to sustain our top four place with the current squad. Therefore it made more sense saving our spending for the coming summer since next season we'll have a much better chance of winning the title with a much fresher squad?

Interesting thought but I don't think so. He seemed very disappointed at the end of that transfer window. That said he may have been satisfied with just Grealish for last summer, and that seemed nailed on until the penultimate day.
