Kid’s going to be a superstar. Such a natural talent.

Totally agree, the way De Ligt plays with the ball at his feet leads me to believe that he will fit in perfectly with how Poch wants us to play. Furthermore, in the match against Portugal he played really well against Ronaldo and even got under his skin (gotta love seeing CR7 throwing a tantrum(y)). I think the key will be how early we can get him in the window. Obviously, the Dutch are not in the WC so he will be fresh for the preseason.

we can offer him regular first team football immediately if he joins, that's our only advantage over citeh

I actually agree that there is a chance we can offer De Ligt a decent amount of first team football next season. Look at how well Sanchez fit into the starting XI. Also, De Ligt and Sanchez are familiar with one another from their time together at Ajax so that should help him settle into the squad. I would love for Poch to play three at the back and if that's the case De Ligt would likely only need to beat out Foyth and CCV as I think Dier will mainly be at CM with Dembele's likely departure.

Surely Sanchez is on the phone telling him how good it is here, getting to play next to the one and only SuperJan.

Our biggest advantage is the career development of our previous Ajax purchases. All have gone straight into the starting eleven and really developed.
However, if Pep gives him assurances he's straight in the first team then City will always be first choice.
Pep is a great pull for any player. Man City have a manager who should be there for the medium term. That, silverware, and the top money they offer will be hard for us overcome. I honestly feel that players may be put off signing for Chelsea or Man U as they may be concerned that the coach who buys them might not be there the following year. That makes Spurs highly attractive. Just wish we weren’t up against City.

Be under no illusion, Spurs actually are top payers despite what the press lead us to believe. I’m sure player contracts are structured with very high upsides so that first team players earn amongst the top money in Europe.

The hope with this one is the amazing connection we have with Ajax, current Spurs players who can vouch for what a great club this is, and that the lad seems very sensible.

We might agree to pay £70m structured over a few years. City can stroll in and just hand it over. Then the press trumpet that we lost out on another target and if De Ligt looks great and City win the league, the media all fall over themselves to say what a genius Pep is at spotting and developing young talent.

I agree that Chelsea and Utd aren't that attractive at the moment, especially for a young player. Us, City, and Liverpool would be the better draw for a prospect.

The advantage we have is the lack of pressure here. De Ligt can learn about the Prem and make a few mistakes without OTT criticism and being dropped.

I'm not sure money is such an issue either as he'll be getting a large rise either way so he's probably more concerned about development.

So it's a toss up between Pep's progressive style and Poch's top class defensive knowledge.
Personally, I'd go with Poch at the moment as his coaching, in my view, would take De Ligt to the next level as a defender whereas Pep would encourage him to play and he could end up like Stones.

Maybe im thinking too much into it or maybe I'm just so damn smart. But I reckon city are upping the price for de ligt as a bargaining tool to get alder

If i was him I would keep quiet otherwise he may find himself out the team

Not if we play 3 at the back.

£70m is behind our means. Perhaps we have alternatives and of course we also have Foyth who himself is a prodigy and has been with us for a year now. Guessing that a deal around £50m would be where we would go since like Sanchez he has proven he can play at a high level but £70m does seem to be a step too far

Having never seen de Ligt play or even a picture of him, I last night dreamt that I met him at a 5 aside tournament and he asked for my council over which team to move to.

He looked like a chubby Michael Pitt in my head. I convinced him to join, you're all welcome.

If 70m is the price I'd be happy to pass on this and bring Foyth more into the mix. CM is where we need to buy proper quality. deLigt would be a great signing but we won't compete with City. In some ways I'd be happy for Toby to go there since they're not exactly rivals whereas Man Utd definitely are.

Think the goal is for Foyth to replace vert and then our back 3 for a decade is Foyth, Sanchez and De Ligt

£50-60m would seem on the high side for De Ligt, but if he's the top target, so be it. Aside from the mention of a mystery CM from Germany (per Herc), it seems there are no concerns about budgeting for CM or WF targets, so why are people getting so hung up on pricing?

It's all about Poch getting his top targets for once.
