According to Sky Sport Italia, the player's agent is currently in London talking with Tottenham.

Argentinian defender from Palermo, similar qualities to Vertonghen.

I swear I saw a thread about him last night but it wasn't there this morning.

Anyways, would we really be after two CBs? If we do get Vert to go with Kaboul, Dawson, Caulker, King/Gallas then we won't need another one.

What kind of Argy Bargy CB is he? Hope he's a good old-fashioned cannibal. We need some real teeth still. Ya know, a guy who suddenly bite someone's cheek off for no reason at all. Keep the oppo on their toes.

Someone will likely say he's a tippy tappy CB now. Damnit!

Harry quashes Silvestre talk

Palermo centre-back won't be heading to White Hart Lane this summer

Harry Redknapp has insisted that Tottenham are not considering a move for Palermo defender Matias Silvestre this summer.

The Argentine centre-back has impressed with his performances in Serie A over the past couple of years and is believed to have attracted the attention of several clubs.

Reports this week suggested that Spurs were among the chasing pack and could be looking to bring him in during the transfer window.

Redknapp admits that he admires the player but says he is not one of the club's targets.

"I have not had talks in the last few days with Palermo to ask about Silvestre," Redknapp is quoted as saying in calciomercato.it.

"We are certainly talking about a good player, but we never thought about him for next season.

"I can therefore rule out any kind of interest from Tottenham for Silvestre."
