Also should be noted that Eriksen is like 7 inches taller than Edwards. Bit of an advantage.

I think his size will all so help him, he can turn and manoeuvre very quickly, with his low center of gravity a lot of prem players are very big so it must be harder changing direction when your a lot bigger.

played 90 mins in a 1-0 loss to venlo.

had an ok game, his dribbling was a bit off this time but his passing was good. had a great chance to score early on but the keeper made an excellent save to be fair, he should still have scored though. a year or two ago i don't think he'd have made that run so i'd say his movement off the ball is getting better at least.

@Blake Griffin , I'd just like to say thank you for your constant updates about how our loanees/youths are getting on.

Pretty flipping awesome for those of us who are unable to keep track of them. I for one am extremely grateful.

His team are so bad though always conceding late goals. 1 point of the drop zone though. Hopefully it's been a good experience for him though he seems to be a starter most weeks now which is a good thing.

Hope he played well again. I watch a highlights programme every week on one of the sports channels and every time they mention how Marcus has been Excelsior's most dangerous player this year. Would like to see what he could do in a half decent side

he was decent. his play hasn't been quite as "exciting" these past few games but his passing has been a lot better. there are times where you'll watch him and think we could do with some of that in the first team but then equally there are times where you can see why he currently finds himself out on loan. i think he could do with at least another season away but with his contract getting down to the final year i'm not sure what'll happen.

it's weird as they do play some half decent stuff at times but they're also capable of being absolutely terrible. yesterday they were at home to the team bottom of the table and should really have been 3 or 4 down at ht, 2nd half was a bit more even but still not great. other than marcus they only really have one other player who i think could play at a high(er) level - jerdy schouten who is a dm/cm, quite carrick-like and tbh he impresses me a lot but it's difficult to gauge given the level they're playing at, i wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at psv or replacing de jong at ajax.

Razvan Marin is replacing de Jong at Ajax.

marcus' loan has taken a bit of a disappointing turn. their manager resigned after the 2-1 loss to nac breda and since then the new/caretaker manager has dropped him to the bench with him getting 7 mins against groningen and then didn't even get on against ajax. makes little sense to me as even taking away any bias he was comfortably their best attacking player over the past few months, though not exactly much competition admittedly. since the turn of the year these are the minutes he's played:

so it seems he's not in this manager's plans, shame if that's how it's going to end for him but still some positives to take from his time there.

Yep, would be a shame but thankfully, they only 4 league fixtures remaining.

Vs Willem II - April 21st
Vs Den Haag - April 25th
Vs Az Alkmaar - April 28th
Vs Heracles - May 12th

New manager preparing for next year by assessing his players. No room for a player that isn’t going to be there after the end of the season. Makes sense.

Look on the bright side we don't have to watch Excelsior anymore and that can only be a good thing.

not going to happen but I would like to see him on the bench as a impact player next year but sadly I can see him leaving just hope I am wrong.

When he returns is he eligible
for a few cameo performance when
Cl and 3rd are safe.
Only way we are going to find out.

There's only 5 games left so I can't see a scenario where 3rd is going to be 'safe'.

They don't have a new manager yet, it is the interim manager (assistant manager that has taken over) that has dropped him.

It looks like a tactical decision to play wide midfielders/defensive wingers, as they are playing a RB in his place.

Marcus Edwards has been very good since he came on, this new Excelsior manager is stupid for not playing him
