Always a fan of young players going to the Eredivisie. Good level to develop at and hopefully make the step up in the future.

Hope he seizes this chance better than he did at Norwich...

That's a very good debut for only 10 mins, could have had a shot once or twice but considering he probably only trained a couple of times that's promising. Hope he can build on that.

Saw this on one of their sites - translated:

To be able to call a bright spot: the debut of Marcus Edwards was hopeful. Immediately it became clear that the little Englishman has a lot of creativity. Let's hope he can show this in two weeks to Willem II right from the kickoff. Who knows, the tandem Ómarsson-Edwards will be one that we're still talking about in a few seasons.

Looks great to be fair. Really hope he sorts his attitude out, because it would be such a sad waste of talent.

This move to Holland could be perfect for him. Gets him away from comforts and influences at home, and gets him the top flight exposure for his ego to thrive off.

Agreed, as well as some of the realities which come with first team involvement, games and pressure.

I really hope it's the making of him.

A short write of Marcus Edwards first start for Excelsior

I’m not joking when I say this but wow it’s like a new Marcus Edwards I saw today, made me proud. He took his defensive responsibility very well, his defensive positioning was good, he ran back, won the ball and tried to move forward. You could tell he was dead at the end of the game. He wasn’t shy and had the balls to tell his team mates off.

With the ball you could easily see that he’s the best player in the pitch. Taking on players with ease and tried to make quick 1 2 and even made a assist

Shame that they bottled a 2-0 lead in the last minutes

Maybe it was the best decision to send him outside the country. Looking forward to see more of him this season

Seems like he signed for the Dutch spurs.

Anyway more importantly he started and played the 90 which is a good sign.

Excelsior are more like Bournemouth - a relatively small club mixing with the bigger boys.
This will be a good learning experience for him.

Again, he looks like an absolutely amazing player. Really hope we can make it work with him in the long term.

Reminds me of sterling, the way he shields the ball and makes a yard with small feints. Hopefully a solid loan with plenty of game time will mean he features next season for us.
