I have never really seen it with AWB. He is decent but never really caught my eye. There is a reason though some big clubs want him but 50m or so seems a fair bit for him.

AWB is an extremely good defensive FB in Palace's system. We play a different system but there is no reason to think that AWB would be incapable of adapting to it. He has already been converted from a winger to a FB so the change to a wing-back shouldn't be a problem with a coach as good as Poch.

I do wonder if a serious bid of £50m gets put in whether they would consider it. Does a team like Palace really need a £50m RB? Surely that money is better off up the pitch.

They could potentially sign Batshauyi and Clyne and have change left over, I think that makes them a stronger team.

I'm guessing Parrish doesn't agree as Utd seemed super keen and have seemingly moved on.

For me he's a great prospect but will his fee represent good value? If he improves into a WC fullback/wing back, maybe the figures will stack up but for me, this is a huge amount for a RB. There has to be better value out there than this, even if he is a great prospect?

SSN reporting that Man U have made a 'substantial' bid for AWB. Also the usual "Palace don't want to sell" stuff.

Palace have learned these players have both a premium in the league and that staying in the PL is far more financially viable than a single big money sale. If ManU want him they'll bleed them for him. Probably why we've not pursued him or Zaha.

You can see the trend with Manchester United. They're going to go young and try to find players on the cusp of "breaking out" that their fans will be more apt to get behind.

Well if Zaha won't be sold then I can see this one happening (to Man Utd). They're probably offering £50m-£60m, Palace holding for £70m (if Zaha is anything to go by) and a compromise will be made.

Valencia has also just been released so it makes sense for them to go for a long term RB.

You would think Zaha would be extremely pissed off if they go and sell AWB and the keep him imprisoned by placing a ridiculous valuation on him.

ITK earlier had said crazy bids well in excess of £60m would be needed.
I would like us to sign him, but don’t think we’ll have those sums availble until next year if we get our trio of Sess, LoC and N’D.

I absolutely love AWB as a player, but with the kind of money it'd likely take to get him, I'd rather we go for Atal. He's still young, provides some great end product from the wingback position and I feel as though getting him for a fraction of what it would cost to get AWB just makes way too much sense for us.
