When everyone is fit, RB is our weakest position.

I'd sell Tripps and Serge, then chuck in however much else is needed to get him.

Sissoko will be relieved from his babysitting duties.

I guess this might come down to him handing in a transfer request if they are pricing him out of a move. Can’t see that happening this summer though sadly.

No doubting his ability, and yes he's still young. But if the fee that Palace would seek is enough to scare City off, then that's just beyond crazy.

Okay, so he's English (Congolese descent), I get that there'll be an added premium to pay. But he's Only played 42 premier league games in 2 seasons, 35 of which came this season.

Of course Palace can charge what they like, but an astronomical fee doesn't hide the fact that the lad still has very little premier league experience and therefore is the fee actually a true reflection of his value.

Shame but understandable. You'd think Palace would take something like £40-50m for a RB of all players. Could buy a decent replacement and a decent attacker for that. That said fair play to PL clubs holding on to their stars, I remember how much losing Carrick, Keane and Berba felt.

I thought Palace were in a situation where they needed money ASAP. Has their situation changed? If not, they're either idiots or bluffing HARD.

I dont see DL being mugged in the extremely over priced UK market. See Grealish, Zaha and AWB....
Aren't we at the mercy of the over priced UK market though, seeing as we're already light on home grown squad players and we seem to be trying to push Trippier out of the door?

With all due respect, does it matter? Palace own the player, and don’t want to sell. Why should they feel compelled to accept an offer just because it’s what common consensus seems ‘good value’? An offer would need to be ridiculous to encourage them to sell, and fair play to them for that. That’s how I’d want us to act in that situation.

It might matter.

Yes he signed a contract. What if he wants to take the next step and wishes to move, but Palace have placed an extortionate fee on his head.

A fee so unrealistically high potential suitors don't bid.

End result a disgruntled player on your hands, crap for team morale and could even have a knock on affect when trying to sign players. Potential targets could be put of joining, fearing that if they excel Palace might well price them out of any future move.

Moral of the story: If you take your career seriously and want to be upwardly mobile, don't sign for Crystal Palace.

I think it matters, we didn't want to sell Bale or Modric but we knew the player wanted to move on so we brokered a fair deal for each of them. Deals that represented good value to us and allowed those two players to move on and winning many trophies.

The only thing in Palace favour at this point is that the player is happy to stay but IMO they are playing a very dangerous game of chicken with their own players, one that I think will backfire this summer with Zaha.

The reality is that football is a business as much as a sport, maybe moreso these days and clubs cannot hold their players back when they outgrow their club. That includes us. If Eriksen chooses to move on from Spurs this summer then he should have our blessing. He has given us outstanding contribution and deserves the chance to try his hand at a bigger club.

Does annoy me when teams just overprice top English talent.

Fair play to them, we'd want the same thing if we're to sell Eriksen or whoever else. If you want our best players, you pay a premium. This was his breakthrough season, so he'll give them at least another year so they've no need to sell.

IMO Palace genuinely run the risk of alienating their best players and souring those players relationships with the club and fans when said players feel they need to hand in transfer requests in order to move to a bigger club so that they can play on the biggest stage.

Palace are a good club but they are some distance away from playing CL football and may not ever make it, short of being bought up by an Abu Dhabi billionaire - which I suppose could happen

In all honesty this view applies more to Zaha than AWB right now as the latter hasn't yet played more than 1 season with Palace, however, it could be argued that he is good enough to play CL football already, based on the evidence of last season, and if he can do it sooner rather than later then maybe he should be given a fair crack at it already.
