Manchester City have won their last 4 Premier League (PL) against us. They have never won 5 consecutive league games against us, with this being our 141st meeting. We have taken just 4 points from our last 9 PL visits to the Etihad Stadium against Man city (W1 D1 L7)

Man City haven’t lost their opening home league match in a top flight season since 1989 - 1990 against Southampton – they are unbeaten in 24 matches since (W16 D8 L0).

We lost our last 6 away PL matches of the 2018/19 season – we haven’t lost seven in a row since December 2000 under George Graham.

When conceding no more than 1 goal in a PL match, City are unbeaten in 83 PL games since 0-1 loss at Liverpool in December 2016. However, conceding more than 1 goal, they have lost their last 6 PL matches.

Raheem Sterling – who scored a hat-trick on the opening weekend – has been directly involved in 6 goals in his last six games for City against Spurs in all competitions (5 goals, 1 assist), including netting 4 in his last 3 against us at the Etihad.

We had more shots than any other PL side on match day 1 (31).

Poch was the first Manager to win away from home against Pep in a league match, doing so in Feb 2009 with Espanyol against Barcelona. Kane failed to score in any of his 1st 14 PL games in august but has since netted in his last 3 games in the month – 4 goals, scoring with 4 of his last 5 five on target after failing with his first 1.

Very nervous and not too confident, particularly after they demolished West Ham... Were City just very good or West Ham so poor. watched a few moments but not the entire game.

Gone for a draw but i wish we were not playing them this early in the season.

I think the last time we played them during the second week of the season, they end up beating us 6-1. It was during Arry's last season in charge.

Realistically thinking a 3-1 loss but hoping for a big surprise. Think the only way we are getting a result is beating their midfield physically (which we can do with Sissoko + Ndombele), but it is a big ask to win at the Etihad. COYS.

5-1 at the Lane before we went on a winning streak.

Manchester City away. One of the hardest fixtures of the season. So how to win?

I spoke to a former player and current manager about what he would do.

‘I’d be looking for the right opportunity to catch Rodri unawares, stealing possession from him, making a quick pass and then taking up a position to slot it in’, he said.

‘Well that’s great, Giggsy, but how would you beat Manchester City?’ I asked

‘Oh, I’ve no idea about that’ he said.

Three points in the bag they have weaknesses all over the park.
Moira's ability to pounce on a slack defender and nick the ball could be very important but I guess it's going to be all about dealing with their incredible movement up front so, to state the obvious, defending well is key, could be a big day for Ndombele in front of the backs.

Might be a good game to try Ndombele and Sissoko in front of the back 4. We'll be playing on the counter for most of the game I'd expect, so no need to be too adventurous.

Then again I do love me some Winks. I'm torn.

Well, talk about getting the big games out of the way early.

Man City walked through West Ham last weekend, but we are much different prospect. I can see Poche going 3 at the back for this one, with Verts coming back in with Toby and Sanchez. Winks as pivot with Ndombele and Sissoko across the middle, with Danny and Kyle running the wings. Eriksen to sit as hook with Kane forward, natch.

All about the usual focus, keeping shape and running for each other. Sterling cannot be allowed freedom and space in the area. His runs and 6 yard finishes mean that he's no longer a creative player (if he ever was), as F365 suggest, he's now Gary bloody Lineker.

Impartial prediction from ex Gooner and Sky pundit Charlie Nicholas I see....

It's a cracking game again I loved the Manchester United game against Chelsea, the way the game unfolded and how expansive it was. This is one of those games. There is a spark in my brain that questions where Mauricio Pochettino thinks he is? It is a judgement of where his team is at. What team will Pep Guardiola pick?

Christian Eriksen came off the bench last week and helped, but do they change the system or format? I think there are issues at Tottenham, but it is not the manager's making. It's between the players and owners, but I see problems here for Tottenham. Man City, with Sterling having scored a hat-trick away from home, are mind-blowing.

I am actually happy to get this game out the way this early on. Second half of the season we don't play any of the big teams away other than Chelsea in February, so whislt everyone else is scrapping towards the run in, we can quietly go about our way and sneak the title!!!

Dreading the game though, would take a draw but got a feeling we will struggle to deal with Sterling as we normally do.

Probably the only game in the whole season where a point leaves me fully satisfied.

Will be tough, but we have a chance. They surely are out for a revenge after the CL last year.

2-2 draw for me. And a point here would be massive.

If we have any aspirations of a title race we can't be getting battered.

A fit Alli to harass Rodri would’ve been ideal. Eriksen has to start as does Verts. Time for Moura to show his worth again. Would be nice to see Lo Celso on the bench. This post is a stream of thoughts: each one a seemingly unconnected sentence - not my finest writing. I’d take a draw.
