Watching Liverpool makes me yearn for some more speed up front. I'd take Malcom in a heartbeat! That would make 3 attackers with decent wheels...Son, Moura and Malcom.

Don’t think Malcom is as quick as those two

He came on as a sub for Dembele tonight in the 69th min who sprained his ankle. Could well mean he doesn’t go anywhere this window now.

Barca want De Jong but need to offload Malcom first. So in a way if we get Malcom chances are we miss out on De Jong. Although I dont think we hold much hope of De Jong anyway because it seems to be PSG or Barca for him. This for me is the best player possibly available to us in this window.

I would do this one if we could loan first but I feel Barca would insist on a purchase in the summer (like they're asking for with D.Suarez). It's definitely a bit of a risk but considering our previous interest in him maybe we should make it happen. I would personally take a Malcom in place of Llorente and play a Son/Moura up top instead. I dont think the long ball into Llorente suits us at all anyway. Get another quality player with the ball at his feet.

I'm not entirely sure what his best position is yet. He comes on as a wide attacker for Barca but doesn't really have great pace. He seems like he would be better suited to a more central attacking role like Lamela really. That's why I think he would work well for us. If Kane is out Son plays up top, if Son is also out play Moura there. Use the pace up top and have players like Alli, Lamela, Malcom playing between the lines with Eriksen and Winks pulling strings.

This seems/seemed like a doable deal to me. A player we targeted and wanted last January, only apparently missing out due to a change of manager at his (then) club, then missing out to Barca in the summer.
Barca want to deal. Rumour is loan with option to buy, which I think should suit us.
Plays in a position that could help us, as a AM allowing Eriksen to drop deeper and cover Dembele’s departure, and/or Son (when back) and Moura to play higher up in Kane’s absence.
As a double whammy, I’m sure I read that Barca have already let one forward go, so only want to let one more of Malcom or Denis Suarez leave, so getting this done early blocks Emery from getting his target.

By the way, the Argentinian sub Barca brought on the 2nd half looked fairly decent- any chance of us getting him on loan with an option to buy?

Excuse my ignorance, but Barcelona just loaned Kevin-Prince Boateng(!)... Could this have anything to do with Malcom?

I think they see him as depth/alternate to Suarez. Malcom is depth/alternate to Coutinho and O. Dembele so I doubt it's related.

Not sure if this has changed but isn’t there a rule in spain where clubs can only register a maximum of 3 non EU players in their squad? If so Malcom takes up a spot.

I think they've only used two of the three slots anyway - Malcom and Arthur. All of the other players have dual citizenship.

Hoping this is the one we are confident on, even if it's probably Bowen or Aarons. The only big one with a sniff of media info on it. If we were in deep for Werner someone in Germany would probably have picked up on it before now.

More likely Denis Suarez leaving and they can't get De Jong until the summer so they've loaned Boateng for now

We could still get Malcom on loan with the option to buy in the summer though. Barca need the money for Malcom in the summer to finance the De Jong deal. Their best hope of getting a sale of Malcom is to loan him and hope he impresses.

I don't see ether Aarons or Bowen leaving this window. One would assume we wouldn't be trying to tie up ether with any haste considering other pressing issues. Although that might be wishful thinking. Must say Malcom does make sense if he really is available. Especially considering we scouted him all last season.
