Not saying this is true, but who is the last player that truly improved under Wenger?

Seriously the only one who really improved was Adebayor. Wenger made him into a proper striker when people were laughing at him for buying Adebayor.

I don't know much about France, other than like most places they recognise the PL as the place to be, however could it be possible that Wenger is held in such high regard by many in the country and countless ppl around Malcom are telling him things like "Wenger is the greatest". Wenger is quite respected amongst football people in Brazil too, therefore he will certainly still have some appeal in working with him.

....................especially when he's going around with that bag of sweets.

Paulinho was a good player who arrived when we had a clueless manager. And by the time Poch arrived his confidence was shot to pieces.
Yep. Paulinho gets such a bad rep by many, however he's an excellent player who was so influential in helping Corinthians win the Copa Libertadores and then the World Club Championship. It was obvious that the whole situation around our club affected him greatly and he had to go away and build up his confidence again. Malcom is an entirely different situation.

Seems to be gathering momentum in respect of him going to Arsenal, they will be desperate to save face after Sanchez leaves so can't see us competing financially.

Mailsport reporting we've dropped our interest due to 45 million valuation.

Could understand that. He'd be a HUGE gamble at that price.

Looking at the review of last season I have to agree. That said in a post Neymar/Coutinho world it's not as insane a fee as you'd think.

In addition to this the Dortmund interest is always an alarm bell and he has already matched last seasons goals and assists tally in 19 games this season so appears to be on the rise. He certainly has the express pace and dribbling skills and is only 20 but he seems extremely one footed and ligue 1 isn't the hardest league in world football.

Would I rather they signed him at 45m than Mahrez at 55m though? 1000%

Edit: Just a thought, maybe Mahrez is the big difference player JJ mentioned? No real press link and we had ITK saying Poch is in contact with his people...

Disagree - confidence affecting ability is one thing. What I saw was a complete lack of effort a lot of the time - no excuses for that.

Paulinho was actually decent in his first season we basically let him go too cheaply to China.

But that last season he barely managed to string two anythings together. Whether he was good enough or not being sold to China and not really wanted by anyone else inspired him to at least give a darn again and get himself back into the Brazil squad and make an impact and earn another move. Whether he would have come to that same place here is anyone's guess.

Yeah lets be fair about this. Malcom looks a talent but honestly, so did N'Koudou and N'Jie in Ligue 1 the seasons before they came to Spurs and we paid a damn sight less on both of them.

The market is obviously different now and 45 million isn't necessarily a huge sum to a lot of big clubs but to us, at this point, it's still significant.

As I say, he looks great but if Arsenal replace Alexis with Malcom then I think they could be in for a shock.

Malcom is much better than both N'Jie and N'koudou. I wouldn't be so sure about them being on for a shock. Having said that, Wenger isn't the right manager for him.

Always looked to me like he was focussed on the World Cup and spent his whole time with us trying to make sure he didn't pick up any sort of injury. Ducked out of every challenge or 50/50. Came to us off the back of a competition where he wasn't afraid to get stuck in which makes it even more galling.

I guess that's open to debate and down to opinions but as I say, I'm confident that the club have someone else better in mind. For example, if it was a choice between Malcom and Pulisic then I'm taking the latter all day long, even if he's more expensive.
