For some reason I think there is legs in this, we are clearly targeting the French league and have been for a good few years. But who was the last success... Ekotto is the only one that springs to mind over a decade ago. We're bound to come up sucking a tit instread of our thumb at some point.

Lloris, Aurier, Kaboul

First 2 il give you but the forehead was more Miss than hit I'd say, injuries of course the main problem.
Dunno mate provided the assist for Crouchys historic winner at the etihad and scored the winner against the scum at the Emirates. Done OK for us in general like tbh.

I think he always had the potential to be a rock, his first spell was hit and miss but his second was better but again injuries took its impact. He only had a handful of International caps too, I think he is one of those players that we rate higher than he actually was. Was there not also question marks over his attitude behind the scenes?

Talented as he is if Arsenal are getting Malcom to replace a parting Sanchez I'm not too upset. They'll end up much weaker anyway.

I don't think anyone thinks kaboul was fantastic for us, though there were periods where he looked like he could become a seriously good player, but he wasn't a miss either. Injuries and a lack of discipline ultimately prevented himself from becoming the player he could of been, but before his major injury he had broke into the France squad and became our main centre back essentially. He was inconsistent after coming back from his injuries but was still highly rated enough to become our club captain before falling out with Poch.

He wasn't a failure by any stretch of the imagination. Its important to note that he only played one full uninterrupted season at Tottenham as first choice, and he recieved all of his caps in that season, and this is ultimately why he only made a few appearances for the national team. Its also why 'what could of been' becomes a question. Bassong was miss, I'd say Kaboul was a qualified hit.

Anyway Ligue 1 has produced successful PL players recently such as Payet, Giroud and Martial to name a few, all players that would've improved our squad had we signed them from Ligue 1. Ligue 1 is still a good market to look into these days even though there is a significant quality gap and risk involved.

And if he goes on to be a success for them it'll be a matter of time before a PSG, City, Barca or RM start to unsettle him.

We should be getting these players before we go to these level of clubs. You won't be able to buy attacking talent from Dortmund, Saint, Bordeaux etc as they'll be on the radar of clubs with more money than us.

If Arsenal are interested and we have a chance to bring him in, reminding them that we're now the more attractive destination, then I say make it happen.

Difficult. Malcom was a highly rated player as a 16 year old at Corinthians but there's no way we should be buying a teenage Brazilian winger as it's such a risky move. Jesus was less of a risk as he's got a lot of strong qualities whereas Malcom was always more likely to be bullied if moving too soon.
