The 4 month ban for his club footy should start at the start of his clubs season fixture.

No point in starting it from now as there is no club footy for about 2 months.

There are reports that Liverpool FC have joined Uruguay in appealing Suarez' very light ban. If that's the case, shame on Liverpool.

This is a disgrace, how can he only get 4 months? He is banned from playing whilst on holiday, absurd. Ban him for an amount of matches, the rest of the WC and a minimum of 19 EPL games.

I never wish injury upon anyone, never even a single Arsenal player, but I sincerely hope this scumbag has a career ruining injury this season. He is a utter disgrace and his diving/cheating antics are nearly worse than his vile biting acts. Put a muzzle on the dog.

I know the pundits are saying FIFA got it right but for me he got of lightly, the biting was bad enough (again!) but the way he held his face and rolled around was really disgusting and he should have got a 12 month ban.

Personally i detest Suarez and cant wait till he's out of the PL.

To be fair the Italian chap did elbow him in the face after he bit him and post match he has a big swelling on the right side of his face

I think there will be a change to the sanctions on appeal as currently he cannot have any football interactions including training and potentially admin stuff like signing new contracts/transfers. It is very harsh on Liverpool as a club but given we play them in the first couple of weeks it works out well for us

He actually missed all of pre season, no training with the squad and no friendlies or warm up games so by the time he comes back to his club in November he would theoretically need a couple of months to get match sharp as he would have only played two games in six months. So realistically Liverpool have lost him until December at the earliest in terms of form

His fellow players should refuse to play against him. If FIFA aren't going to do it, ostracise the little fucker

Suarez deserves his ban, no doubt about it, but there are some very compelling reasons why the man has developed into a biter. I personally don't think that hating him is the answer. This is a man who hasn't developed into an adult, and by many accounts didn't get the opportunity to. He's a deeply flawed, vulnerable human being who has bitten three people on the pitch. He's not a sociopathic serial killer in the middle of a spree.

It's way too easy to say he's a terrible person based on these incidents; life just isn't that black and white. He seems to be well-liked guy off the pitch and obviously adores his wife and children. Like it or not, there is some good in the man. Yeah, lots of kids live impoverished lives and don't turn into biters, or behave in the way he does, but quite a few of them do lose their way and end up doing much worse.

Luis Suarez is a joy to watch on a football field most of the time but he obviously needs help. In the meantime, he should be asked to stick a mouth guard in his gob during games to stop the tendencies he, apparently, has no control over.

It's not really though is it.

Before Liverpool signed Suarez they knew he had previous, he was banned for biting an opponent in the Eredivisie for 7 games, what did they do...they still brought him and rewarded him a 5 year contract at £110,000 p/w

When Suarez racially abused Patrice Evra what did Liverpool do...they publicly backed him by wearing T-shirts and releasing a BS statement making him out to be the victim as if he was the one in the wrong.

When Luis Suarez bit Branislav Ivanovic he got banned for 10 matches....what did Liverpool do, they gave him a brand new 5 year contract and rewarded him with a £200,000 a week contract making him the highest paid player at the club.

Liverpool football club deserve everything they get.

Controversy aside he's a bit of a Cantona type character isn't he? Brilliant player and undoubtedly a bit bonkers!

Yup, ban should be increasing every time he gets punished for the SAME offence.

Only issue is, does this play into Liverpool's hands again? Like last season, does it make it more likely they can keep hold of him now?

Spot on I'm afraid. Suarez was just about off to Spain when he did it again, wasn't he? I wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool's appeal is successful and he will be back in PL action sooner than october 26. Last season he managed 31 goals from late September an onwards, so I'd really like to see him gone nomatter the fee. He is what gave Liverpool ther enormous lift last season and I would like to see how they fare without him.

You have really bought liverpool's PR campaign hook line and sinker haven't you.

Loads of footballers come from poor/tough backgrounds and don't act like he does.

Being good at football doesn't excuse anything.

I couldn't give a flying toss what Liverpool's PR campaign is. I think for myself. You might try reading what I said again and look for the bit where I condone his actions. You won't find it.

I recall during the Evra negrito scandal that he said it was not racist in his country. We all scoffed. Turns out, biting appears acceptable in Uruguay - maybe we were wrong all along!
