You tend to get this when overstatement of a players quality when there's rumours of them coming here.

Zokora being a prime example. I remember the excitement when he came in and people saying how much better he would be than Carrick. Bentley over Lennon was another cracker. Soldado was another belter.

I've no doubt he's better going forward but defensively he's way off. Ask any Everton fan who watches him regularly and they'll tell you the same.

Maybe there’s something in this swap deal, doubt it though

That's quite an odd thing for him to say. Sounds almost like he wanted to stay but the club have told him they want to move him on, and he's a little bitter about it.

It doesn't add up otherwise, as there are several players older than Danny who it doesn't appear that we're actively looking to move on.

For me Rose clearly is still pissed with the deal he signed and hasn't been quiet since then. I think a deal for him will happen and maybe a swap + cash with Everton would work for both.

He says whilst our team consists of Lloris, Alder, Vert, Sissoko, Llorente.

I think it’s more that we won’t offer him another long contract and wage rise. With only 2 years left on his current deal i get why the club will probably move him on. Same with Trips.

There has been some media stories about him being offered a new contract. We need to make changes to the squad this summer. For me the left back position is not one that neess urgent work. At all.

Agreed. Keep Rose and Davies, and over the course of the next couple of years you could begin to convert Sessegnon - should we sign him - from a LW to a LWB who'd be ready to take over when Rose perhaps is beyond his prime.

Rose talking shit again, what a surprise.

I honestly think Rose is one of those guys who think about what they’re going to say and when they say it, it sounds completely different to how they mean for it to be interpreted.
I don’t think he’s pissed off at all and probably not looking for a move either, just calling it as he sees it and sounds like a douche because of it.

I'm not saying rose cannot be improved upon because I'm sure we could (it would cost a lot), but with how much change and upheaval is required in the squad this summer I don't think we should touch that this transfer window. We do need some continuity and Rose is actually very good at leading by example on the pitch, and could be a leading light in showing the new squad members the poch way.

I would much sooner add a 2x CM at least 1 RB a WF/Kane back up. In addition to that we will need an Eriksen replacement, if he goes, and maybe a CB if Toby leaves. That's 6 players potentially 4/5 first of the first 11 replaced. To add the LB to that equation maybe 1 too many. I would look again next summer though.

Surely we just offer him a new contract?!!!!

Rose was our stand out player in some of our key matches towards the end of the season. By all means upgrade Davies but Rose is the least of our full back (and squad) worries in terms of quality by quite a distance I'd have thought...

Either way it's a daft thing to say as he's devaluing himself contract wise

I really think what Poch has alluded to is going to happen - a big team reconstruction. We have a bunch of players in the 27-30 range that I can see Poch / Levy moving them on whilst there is still a good market value. The team has not really changed in the past 4 years and if we are being truly honest the UCL Run happened with a team that peaked two years ago (this team is not as good as last season at the old Lane team). Personally I would move Eriksen, Rose, Dier, Llorente, and Trippier this season and drop the average age of the squad dramatically with Ndombele, Los celos, Sessengon, Digne and a New right back amongst others. Poch alluded to a rebuild pre the final and if we want to even continue what we have experienced in the past 4 years it is essential. This seasons team has not felt as dynamic as the previous years.

This. We have 3 options:
1/ offer him a new improved contract until he's 32-33. Then he'll leave for nothing.
2/ let him run down his contract. He'll leave for nothing.
3/ sell and use the money for a younger replacement on a long term contract.

Business wise option 3 would seem the right decision. As it will leave us with an assett. But it is risky as the player coming in might not work out.

Rose is poor going forward? Rubbish. Are you being serious? The biggest deficiency Rose has, in my opinion, is his tendency to get injured. He’s a passionate player and he’s proved that he’s still got it this year.
So many people on here are obsessed with crossing the ball, its bizarre. Its what got Trippier championed and we all see how that turned out. Rose and Digne had the same number of assists this season. Danny Rose is excellent going forward.

You just have to look at allis performance today and realise why he’s had a poor season compared with previously, the deliveries put in were first class and he could’ve had a hattrick of headers. All four of our full backs need improving on but if we keep two of them to be back up then that’s okay too.

Digne is a big upgrade on rose with potential to get better as well. Seems like a no brainer if at all possible.

If we're having a big team reconstruction we've given ourselves too much to do this summer. There's a reason teams keep trying to improve their squad each year.
