I teach project management at a university. To teach how we evaluate whether a project was successful I'd like to use the building of our new stadium as an example. It's an interesting example because in some regards with was successful (quality, scope) in others it failed to meet the plan (deadlines, costs).

Does anyone know of a good article/write-up talks about the new stadium and mentions that it was late, how much it cost, the fact that it's awesome? From the ones I've seen, articles before the opening focus on the lateness and cost, ones afterwards focus on what it's like (and the opening result).

I doubt you’ll find it all in one article a lot went on. For example the thread on skyscraper city is 4K pages.

Thanks, it's a fair point. There shouldn't be a problem in using a combination of articles.

I doubt you could use the page as a source, but Wikipedia's page on the stadium is pretty detailed the last time I checked. At the least it will reference articles you could look at.

What timeframe are you looking at exactly? From the pre-planning (incl. the KSS design, our attempt at London Stadium, the compulsory purchase, etc.) or is it more on the actual construction proper? I might have a few articles throughout the construction process bookmarked.

The idea is that I ask them to read short article(s) before a lecture and answer the question "was the project to build Tottenham's new stadium a success". We'll discuss this in class and I hope they'll start to debate "the project was late by 6 months so no", "but it's one of the best stadia in the world. Surely it was worth the wait?" "Yeah but with no cheese room".

This will plant the idea that "project success" is not a simple concept and then I can describe a framework for how we evaluate project outcomes.

So I really just need them to see the main high-level factors - it's great, at least as good as expected but it's late and overbudget,

I could already write a summary myself.

Some of timeline of delays mentioned here https://www.building.co.uk/news/spurs-stadium-the-story-so-far/5096681.article

There was an interview with architect Chris Lee which you may already have seen.
