“I feel good at Tottenham, but in football everything’s fragile and can change. Some things you can’t refuse,” Lloris told French newspaper Le Figaro.

“Certainly, my destiny is linked to Mauricio. He matters a lot to me. Our relationship goes beyond football, it’s a match, and one day he will be the best manager in the world.

“For me he is already. His presence and our relationship are the most important elements for me.”

Lyon’s Coupe de France triumph in 2012 remains Lloris’ only major honour during his career and he admits a top European club would be difficult to turn down.

There are things you cannot refuse, but that does not mean I am desperate,” the France international said.

“There are some teams that demand admiration, they are monsters for what they have done in their past, and in 10 or 15 years they will win again.

“Tottenham is not a club that always wins, but we are trying to create something. It’s not easy to fight against European monsters but it is a motivation.”

Totally reasonable response. 30 now, can't blame him for jumping if Madrid or barca came in for him.
He's given his best years to the club and won nothing

I've always seen Lloris as the most likely to leave - given his age, and given that he is the only one who knows that he would be guaranteed a starting place at a Barca or a Real - so I was actually quite surprised he signed a new contract. For the likes of Kane and Dele, there is a real risk of sitting on the bench for the next few years and disrupting a clear upwards trajectory that has seen them become starters for England within 2 years of breaking into the first team at Spurs.

Ahhh, the special relationship.

Like the UK being the US lapdog.
I just mean I would begrudge him a move to one of, if not the biggest clubs in the world who are fighting for La Liga and Champs league every year.
Nothing to do with our "relationship"

I think he was satirising the fact that after selling them Modric and Bale and getting nothing tangible in return.

No-one would be surprised.

Next year, however after we've won the Premier and Champions' League titles, I'll be annoyed if he tries to leave.

It has to be a huge concern what would be the effect of Poch leaving the club in the next couple of years.

Poch will leave, that is a given. Later he leaves better for us. But when he leaves, I am 100% sure, we will be in far better situation as a club than what he started with.

When that time comes, we need to choose the correct manager.

For now, key for us is to win a trophy somehow , get the positiivity going and give no reason for anyone to leave.

Hugh mistake against Sweden yesterday, resulting a 1-2 lose against Sweden
(Obviously, to start payet, sissoko and matuidi ahead of the likes of ante, mbappe, Lacazette, dembele and lemar is the biggest reason why they lose)

However, if lloris knows how to kick the ball properly, he won't be our keeper, but already playing for real or barca

To be honest he's a fantastic keeper but I'm surprised he hadn't done this more for us in the season, his distribution can be so poor at times. Just from memory he did similar away to Southampton and got away with it because the shot was crap.

His distribution is what separates him from the world's best.

Yesterday's was a horrific mistake. There was no excuse for it either.

Really was a terrible error. Whacking it along the floor, down the middle of the pitch. Just very poor judgement. Love you Hugo but he has proper brain farts at times when it comes to distribution, but his role relies on him rushing out so it's something that comes with the territory a bit. No other keeper puts themselves out there on the line like Hugo does

Awful mistake but the number of points he saves us far outweigh the errors he makes. Fantastic keeper.

Sure that he must know and must work with the coaches to improve in this area but he doesn't seem to have shown any real progress with his distribution

Good thing that mistake didnt come for us,
and on the bright side - teams like Real Madrid will have seen it

I don't know very much about football. Never played the game; it's purely spectator entertainment as far as I'm concerned. So I'm very likely to be wrong.

But I didn't think the mistake was that egregious, from the clip I saw. Lloris passed under pressure and the nearby defender could have done better to pick up the pass in the first place, or perhaps to have pressured the attackers rather than running back. Maybe Lloris didn't have any business being out of his goal in the first place - not clear from the clip - but he couldn't have been solely to blame, surely?

Anyway, whether Lloris fucked up or not, it's not a good thing for it to become received wisdom that he did. We rely on his confidence and on a fearsome reputation which affects opposition strikers, and those are more important than deterring suitors from elsewhere.
