Sounds like he learned his lesson. He'll have to get a driver or use Uber etc. now, which ironically had he used in the first place he wouldn't be in the position of losing his license!

According to the Daily Mail (pinch of salt) he's also been fined 2 weeks wages by the club.
No sympathy whatsoever for him... only complete twat's drink and drive.

That said, the one redeeming bit is that he was only driving 15mph in a 30 zone so was unlikely to do any serious damage.

Didn't the alcohol limit use to be 80mg in the U.K. about 30 years ago ?

Drink driving is stupid and wrong but it does sound like he is a bit of a lightweight if he had to be helped from his car after that amount .

£50k.

One thirds of a weeks wage.

Peanuts.

Hope he learns from it and move on

£50k sounds like a lot. I presume that was bumped up on the assumption that "he can afford it", which is of course true, but thats not the point. If you or I were in his position, would we be fined anywhere near that amount? I doubt it.

Because we don't earn £150k a week, people who are done for drink driving typically are fined around £500, maximum fine for a charge is £2500

I think fines are means-tested these days. Certainly on the continent they are

Looks like he has grounds to appeal it then, he won't though. I'm not defending what he did but the law should be fair to all, if the maximum fine is £2500 then he should get no more than that.

Disagree,

I think his salary should be taken into account, it is after all a punishment so there is no point punishing someone so little if they earn a lot, it's meant to act as a deterrent.

Not agreeing or disagreeing with the amount, but 50k is still an utterly negligible amount of money for someone in his position.
