Back up striker is a hard position to fill. Yes we have son who can deputise but I still feel we need another ‘specialist’ centre forward. Jansens hold up play is better then lorente but lorente is probable happier to play sub and also appears to be a good role model in the dressing room.

Tricky one
Forgot about Jansen. Who knows. Maybe we'll see a different man come back. If he comes back.

Llorente is quality but it was never gonna work him playing a few minutes here and there. I don’t think it was a coincidence that he scored a hat trick after he’d played 3-4 games in a month.

He did score 21 goals last season. Not too shabby. And offers up front what Kane doesn't - blistering pace.

Agree with all this . However battling for crosses and being a physical presence in the oppo area is not a part of his game .

Running at opponents from wide suits him better imo .

The last two strikers who failed had physical presence and had the ability to battle for crosses and look how they turned out.

We just need to accept that we already have a player who is able to play a role as a deputy striker and it works.

Don't forget we still have Vincent Janssen on our books, I think he is still on loan at Fenerbahce but he is injured, and probably out the rest of the season. I don't know if he is in Poch's plans but if he gets fit and starts to click he could be more than a decent back up for Harry next season.

Soldado had little physical presence .

Sonny has done well playing in the same forward line as Kane , we'll have to see how he does in the middle surrounded by determined defenders .

The concept of our backs getting to the byline and crossing gets a little less
effective with Sonny in the middle instead of Kane imo .

I don't read too much from the B'mouth game .

Okay but I was talking about Pochettino's purchases, Soldado was a failure when Poch became Spurs manager not because of it, by the time Poch came in his confidence was shot to pieces.

We're much more than a team who fling balls into the box as in evidence of the Bournemouth match and when Son deputised for Kane last season, we slightly altered our game and IMO looked a bit more threatening going forward.

I guess we'll find out now with Harry apparently out til April. Will be interesting to see if Son or Llorente get the nod.

Soldado, Janssen, Llorente..

I am starting to see a pattern here ....

We nearly added Benteke to that, if he hadnt agreed that new contract at Villa..phew. I like his new partner Sørloth though, holds the ball up well when Ive seen them.

I actually think Harry was starting to look a little tired in the last couple of games. Just slightly (ever so slightly) off the pace eg against Juventus at home and again in the early stages against Bournemouth. That he got injured was probably just a bad coincidence but you do tend to see injuries as players get tired....

He does need more support and the ideal would be someone young and hungry to try and do to him what he did to Soldado (!?!?)

I agree, Sorloth is a great shout. He looks pacey and powerful. Good hold up play and runs well with the ball.
