If Cook is the Grealish alternative we're going to have a nasty surprise if we think we can get him for cheaper than we've been quoted for Grealish

Seems like a more grounded lad though, in the sense that he doesn't look like he's off a trash TV program, and hasn't yet (to my knowledge) been found in a puddle of vomit

To be fair to Grealish, he's definitely grown out of all that

Would have quite liked us to sign both Grealish and Cook to be honest...

Trying to sign a home grown 21 year old, who's just signed a new contract, from a side with limited quality within their team, one week before the window shuts? Yep I'm definitely confident this will happen.

Seen rumours of £25m release clause, wonder if there's any truth in that.

Would prefer Grealish over Cook to be honest, at least he has a different tool set to Winks.

Would be very good signing if we can get it done. Everytime I’ve watched him been impressed and he’s young, hg and played in good prem team

I really like Cook but we desperately need experience or top class talent in that midfield, preferably both.

If we’re going to go with a prospect, we have Harry Winks already.

Both of those players will need a few more years before they start bossing the likes of Fernandinho or Pogba (like Dembele did in the league). We need someone who can do it when Dembele is unfit (or leaves us).

Before the US tour, I would have said yes to Cook. But now not so sure. Luke Amos really played well. Kept the ball moving, passed forward and tackled/intercepted well. So did Skipp. Skipp could be atleast a year away from PL , but Amos looked good to play now in PL. After seeing the prospects we have in CM, 30m on Cook is waste IMO. Had it been likes of Kovacic , its understandble but not Cook

A midfield of Grealish, Cook, Winks & Skipp would definitely have a bit of a Barry Stanton look about it wouldn't it :s

Understand your argument. But Cook is ace, and proven. Still only 21 I think
Dont think he is better than what we have already.only thing on his side is experience.would sooner put the money towards zaha.somebody who could elavate us or even grealish who has such great ball retention. Cook just stinks of lack of ambition to me.

Don’t see what he does that Winks can’t do. With the other young midfielders we have as well I would’ve hoped for someone a bit more dynamic and established. Still a great young player though.

Winks AND wanyama are good, but cannot stay fit for whole season. This is the key point.

Unless you want to see dier and sissoko pair up (prehaps occasionally skipp and amos), i am all in for a 30m HG talent who has lots of PL experience

I've just done an Opta comparison of Kovacic, Cook & Winks. Cook smashes it on both of them, even when I look at the amount of minutes all three have played. Not sure how to share I would if I could.

I think he's underrated because he plays for Bournemouth and because his name is Lewis Cook. He'd be someone I wouldn't mind coming in and is only 21

I am starting to have concerns about Winksy's injury. It seems to keep bothering him. I hope upon hope it does not leave him constantly having to manage a condition as that would be tragic.

Cook would add to the likes of Amos and Skipp. We have to be patient with Skipp, help him develop properly. he is very exciting, dynamic, but he is still very young, so will need some further development time. I think Amos can def step up short-term, which is excellent, and he is 21 so has been around the club for a while. Cook is a total "Poch" signing IMO.

Having a look into him and some of the scouting reports, and bumped into a whoscored one triggered by him being linked to Liverpool (naturally).

He seems a very well rounded player. Tackling and interception stats were surprisingly good (especially for a 5'8" technical player). Seems he is also a good dribbler. Key pass stats weren't as high as I'd like for a CM this window however.

He'd be a smart signing I'd think, but if he's the only one this summer I think questions would still be asked.
