Only fucking Levy would get higher than a release after the release clause expires.

It’s not as perverse as it sounds. The objective, if the release clause isn’t triggered, is to prevent him from leaving.

Which would suggest they want to keep him then, contrary to ITKs who say they want him out

Does seem like a message to utd and a real push to get toby out. Dont fancy helping utd improve.

I haven’t seen any ITK on the matter. But why would anyone offer more than £25m before someone else has offered £25m? At present, raising the price is a deterrent to offers.

That can’t be, because until the release clause expires, the only way anyone would offer more is if there is more than one bidder.

Before the expiry of the clause interested clubs don't have to outbid one another. In theory you could have fifty clubs all offering £25mil and Spurs have to accept each and every offer, leaving it up to the player and his agent who he wishes to speak to and ultimately sign for.

Basically when the buyout expires we wont have enough time to replace him before the window shuts.. It's the reason the buyout expires. So we will turn down bids that are not huge.

Ah, that is a good explanation. I was thinking that it didn't make much sense to jack up the price when clubs weren't willing to stump up 25 million. I'm surprised that it hasn't been triggered yet.
