Neville is too busy critiquing other managers to actually manage. His hilarious tenure at Valencia etc.

Neville's opinions and write ups on sky are really starting to piss me off lately. He talks a big talk for someone who failed miserably in his first season as a manager.

He released an article on Poch being the perfect candidate to take over from Mourinho barely even a few hours after he was sacked. This article has been used on many other sports sites as a source in regards to Poch leaving us for United in the summer. How the fuck is Neville a reliable source? Its merely opinion yet the media took this article and ran with it.

Poch may be the best candidate to take over at United, but to write up an article basically pushing United's agenda is completely out of order and shows a lack of respect for Mourinho and what he did at United, as well as a lack of respect for Spurs. Don't even get me started on the article he wrote about Pogba's tweet.

He doesn't have the skillset to be a decent pundit, always pushing his personal opinions around and not really looking at the facts. So I doubt his managerial career will take off any time soon. Can't wait for the day we can go back to worrying about the football and not the soap opera the PL is slowly turning into.

Gotta root ever so slightly for United in the coming months then. This is pretty huge news over here, and it would be pretty great if he got offered the job permanently.

Weird appointment but I suppose they'll probably have an upturn in performances purely from the fact that everyone's not fucking miserable the whole time like they were under Mourinho. It didn't look like they had much of a plan even with him so just reversing the general low morale situation might work wonders even if Solskjaer doesn't necessarily bring with him some tactical masterplan

For me the most amazing thing in all of this is that the media and pundits seem surprised at how Maureens reign ended.
I'm not. I knew it would happen. Called it before season started.
The media seem to brush what happened at Chelsea under the carpet. It rarely gets a mention.

Nobody is surprised that he's been sacked, everyone "knew" that was pretty much inevitable. The surprise has come from the timing of it. All indications from the club were that they would wait until the end of the season/when they were mathematically no longer able to finish in the CL spaces like they have with the other managers. Even journos who clearly work closely with the club seem to have been taken aback by the timing of it so it seems pretty clear to me that this wasn't the plan and it just got to a point where they couldn't take it any more.

As for not mentioning his Chelsea spell, again I can't really agree with you on that. Basically every article I've read about it has compared it to his final season at Chelsea.

Can we all agree early on here that we need to pronounce the 'O' as 'oh', so it sounde more like a matador - "OLE!", than the way it's being pronounced on the radio atm, 'auh'.

It sounds like they're saying Ollie and I keep wondering how funny it would be if it was all a mispronunciation thing and they'd actually hired Ian Holloway.

Just remembered Solskjaer had that spell in charge of Cardiff lol...

Could you even call it a spell? It was more a flying visit. I get what United are trying to do, boost morale, get the fans inside etc but this could be a right clusterfuck.

I don't think so really. 4th has already long since gone barring some kind of miracle, the manager they really want isn't available until summer anyway, and they've made it clear this is only till the end of the season so even if things go badly people won't be on their backs because they know it's only temporary. Even if he does a shit job it's not like they're going to get relegated so whether they finish 8th or 10th is largely irrelevant.

If Ole goes their and the football doesn’t improve, at the very least, I really don’t see United fans just idolly standing by waiting till summer as they get humiliated. The problem at United wasn’t all on Jose, Woodward will be next in the firing line of the fans but since he is making money hand over fist for the owners I doubt he will be sacked.

I agree with you that Woodward needs to be moved away from the football side of things, and Pogba needs a stern warning to cut out his bullshit, it's not all Mourinho's fault, but I disagree that Utd won't sit and wait. Obviously if they've lost every game and are genuinely in danger of getting relegated then that's another matter, but that's really unlikely even with such an inexperienced manager in change. More than likely they'll just plod along between 10th and 7th and even though it won't be great, there's no way they're going to sack OGS and bring in a second interim manager over it, absolutely no way. The grumblings from the fans will be "I can't wait till summer when we get Pochettino/Zidane/Whoever in to sort this lot out" they won't be calling for #SolskjaerOut because it just doesn't make any sense to do so when they know it's only till the end of the season anyway. Bringing someone else in in say March to manage until the end of the season isn't going to make the blindest bit of difference either way so they may as well sit it out with him and get Poch or whoever in the summmer

Are any of United's players wanted by other big clubs in Europe? I'd honestly love it for them to get picked on in this transfer window and at the very least unsettled further. We should totally throw in some cheeky bids just to start the rumours circling. Besides winning trophies the next best thing for us in terms of keeping Poch is for United to look properly weak as a club.

Getting picked apart might be the best thing for them right now. As long as they can get decent money for half of their defenders and a few of them big earners, they could start to rebuild the squad with an actual shape and purpose. I remember United for being able to identify who does what, who the lynchpin in the middle was, who they built through etc. but now it's just a random collection of players.

Carrick was the last player they had who could make a game properly tick in the middle with any sort of consistency, the current crop don't seem to have the patience or concentration to play a team game.
