Old Trafford is a dump now. It's huge but massively outdated, and according to some friends I have in the media the press facilities are the worst in the PL.

A good metaphor for United as a club.

I didn't realize until the other day that OT and Anfield are the only stadiums without TVs! WTF?!

Wonder if there was a bit of gamesmanship from us involved with this bit...

"In particular, many fans on social media feel United made an error in not attempting to sign midfielder Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon."

Did they get distracted by thinking they had a chance with Eriksen, so took their eye off the ball with Fernandes? Coincidence?

Was winding up a friend of mine earlier about their business this summer and had to knock it on the head as he was clearly fuming and thought it might go a bit to far lol

What I don’t get is they haven’t tried to sign any box to box / hard men midfielders?

Even before Herrera left they need more depth there...
Absolute Madness. Herrera will be a huge loss IMO, their record under Ole in the league with Herrera is Played 12, Won 9, Drew 3, Lost 0............Without Herrera is Played 9, Won 3, Drew 1, Lost 5.

How things have changed. They have had to grossly overpay to bring in two defenders and have been unable to sign any proven top quality attackers or midfielders.

What a bunch of spoilt pricks

They’ve spent a fortune this window.

Doesn't matter. Woodward being in charge of the footballing side of things is still the biggest problem the club have got. Has been for years. Most of their other problems are a result of his poor decisions.

I know everyone seems to think Lukaku is rubbish, but I think he's going to be a huge loss for them. For all his faults he was still a very good goalscorer who scored a goal every other game until last season. He's 19th in the all time Premier League goalscorers list, equal with Ian Wright, and just 12 goals behind Harry. If you look Uniteds forward options now they've got Sanchez who has three goals in two seasons, Martial who scored 11 in his best season, Rashford who got 10 in his best season and Greenwood who has 3 appearances and no goals (all league stats). I expect those players to score a few more goals this season, but I'm not sure if any of them will get to 20 goals.

The Pogba situation doesn't help either. They really can't afford to lose his goals and on-field presence, but he could be a negative influence again this season.

Lukaku is decent but he's never been anything like the world-beating striker that he seems to get made out to be. Even in that season where he was going toe-to-toe with Kane for top goalscorer, Kane was still by far and away the more complete player IMO.

That said, I agree with you that he'll be a loss because they haven't replaced him. Regardless of what I think of him as a player, he still scored goals so if you don't replace that with anything it doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I suppose they've sold him to offset the spend on Maguire but I can't help but feel that that sort of fixes one problem but creates another. Unless someone like Rashford massively steps up, but I can't see it to be honest.

I think they are doing the right thing with regards to youth and only brining in players who really want to be there but the fact remains the CM/DM is a real issue for them. If they have to rely on McTominay and Fred week in week out (if Pogba goes) they are in real trouble.

I like McTominay, as a DM he is a unit but very mobile, Pogba if motivated is qaulity the problem is with an attacking midfeilder, They talk about Pereira and Gomes filling that spot but both have little to no first team experience. They are planning on Martial, Rashford and Greenwood, another guy with no experience, up front. Thats how the fans see it but IMO players like Lingaurd, Mata, Fred and Matic will be preferred as Ole starts to feel the pressure.

What happened the the 'Green and Gold' campaign they tried a few years ago shortly after the Glazers took over? Perhaps they need to resurrect that...

Kane's obviously a far better player, but if you play to Lukaku's strengths he'll get goals.

It will be interesting to see if they go for Llorente or one of the other free agents now. That will show how badly they've messed up this window if they're scrabbling around for other peoples cast offs.

Fuck 'em. They have earned all the shit we can muster to throw at them.

Could not agree more unfortunately, it's all a little self-defeating if we find ourselves sitting below them in the league.
I would keep my powder dry for the time being.

I think the lack of a DM is going to harm them more than the loss of lukaku.
Absolutely. Not replacing Herrera will end up costing them, maybe already on Sunday against Chelsea's midfield.

Both Chelsea and Arsenal have an element of the unknown about them, could go either way, but I'm really struggling to come up with anything positive to say about United. They're absolutely nailed on for 6th IMO. If they lose today to Chelsea then Ole is going to be under massive pressure right from the off. His charm has already started to wear off for a lot of their fans I reckon so if they start this season like they finished the last one it won't be long before things start to get uncomfortable for him.

I do think he has a good approach to a lot of things and can see which direction the club needs to go in. The problem is that he's no master tactician and he seems to be forgetting that despite Fergie's kids had a lot of experienced heads around them. Who are the experienced heads in this team? Pogba? Jones? Smalling?

Im not sure if even agree with the good approach thing to be honest. I think he did in terms of basically not being a grumpy mourinho type to stop the rot but that wore thin fairly quickly already last season. I've said before he was the perfect "get him in till the end of the season" type but he offers very little other than that IMO. Hiring him permanently was just another cock up by Woodward I reckon.
