Zlatan wants to play in the world cup and needs to play regularly to do that. He's off to LA Galaxy on a 2 year deal according to Swedish media.

Does he want to play in the WC? He retired after the Euros and while there have been rumblings on the interwebs about him making a WC comeback I didn't think there was anything to them.

He's been dropping serious hints to the media about wanting to return for the World Cup. He's been saying he needs to start playing regularly before anything else though.

In any other industry you would hand in your notice and go elsewhere.

Shaw is happy to to cash in on what is an exhorbitant contract for his age and stature and then run it down and leave on a free if Mourinho stays, or see what a new manager brings should Jose leave.

Too much money in the game/clubs over spend and hand average players too much money, so they have zero incentive to leave.

Which tells you a lot about the player's character imo. In his age he should be pushing for a start or looking to leave to get his career back on track. Compare that to Moura to left a team continually winning a couple of trophies a year to actually get a chance to play.

Like Owen staying at Man U, playing a seasons total of 4 minutes 45 secs and then swaning around lifting the pl trophy like he had earnt it. Prick.
Edit. John Terry was with him if I remember correctly lol.

For me they are allowed to go for the last big payday if they are coming to the end of their careers. Vermaelen for example, sitting on the Barcelona bench/in the Medical room picking up trophies and cash. Shaw on the other hand is still developing and should be looking forward to his prime, instead he's staying in a team where he's barely playing. Not a mentality I want around our team.

Kinda unfair on Shaw I think. I get your point and agree with the gist of it but he is stuck in a predicament. Maybe he has identified that he does not want to play for Mou because he is a prick. Additionally, he has been through 3 managers (Moyes too?) already right? Perhaps he just wants to leave that madhouse.

But his contract and playing situation is causing a problem. Any team that he would want to play for is not going to pay what United would want for a player that has not proven his fitness and who Mourinho has consistently devalued in the market. And lower teams can't afford him as United are totally trying to recoup their investment. If he was really a problem they would just cut their losses 'adebayor style'.

His only option was a loan but as you can see Mou talked him up around that time and now that the window is closed he is shitting on him again. His best bet is to ride out the contract or try to get a loan/transfer this summer on more reasonable terms since he will be entering his last year (option year?).

Plus his wages. He’s on £100k a week I think.

Would we be able, theoretically, to sign Zlatan?

If he is a free?

Would be hilarious if we signed him until seasons end and we ended up second and winning the FA Cup (is he cup tied?).

He's already signed for LA Galaxy unfortunately.

Wouldn't want that prick anywhere near our club.

I think before judging whether Shaw is a money grabber content to just take his wages it needs to be seen if he pushes for a move this summer.

Last season there were signs he could turn it around and he had a good run this season before Mourinho went back to picking on him.

If it had been me I'd have been determined to prove him wrong but at this point feel Mourinho has just taken it too far now and fuck it I want to be elsewhere (unless he also hopes Mourinho gets sacked and someone who isn't such a **** replaces him).

I think a lot of his arrogant 'spiel' and self-aggandising is done very much with tongue in cheek. He's a smart, decent, bloke by all accounts....and a legend.

But I do agree that he would be no use to us.

Regarding his wages, Shaw should be telling clubs that he's willing to lower his demands for more playtime. If he actually wanted to play that is.

Ibra being a prick is just his image. When he was younger he was a prick but now it's something he doing on purpose. Quite brilliant guy.
