There’s a rumour going round, that I started, that GSB are the ones who Dogknapped Daniel Sturridge’s dog in an attempt to lure him to the London Stadium.

A good result for them, as long as they can keep the dog without getting lumbered with Daniel Sturridge as well.

It says forwards, not strikers? Those players are forwards, as is Son. C'mon guys, you're embarrassing yourselves, and more importantly, me.

So is Hernandez their only first team striker now? Yikes.

Yeah, but that's no problem for the Davids. They've bought 37 since they took over in 2010, so picking up another one or two should be easy. Admittedly, they have found buying strikers who can actually hit the back of the net a bit of a challenge, but, hey, who knows, 38th time lucky.

There's an article that highlights just how bad most of those strikers were, with Pablo Barrera costing £4m for no goals in 23 games being my particular highlight. In total, they've managed an underwhelming 203 goals in 957 games, a stat made even less impressive by the fact that a fair few of these were in the Championship.

All of which means that Kane and Sonny, between them, have scored 23 more goals than every single West Ham striker bought by Gold and Sullivan in the past 9 years.

And it's taken them 542 fewer games too...

Indeed.

Although, sometimes, I feel I go too far. I fear I have a tendency to be too churlish toward them and belittle their achievements.

Consequently, I've decided that I should treat West Ham with the respect they deserve and recognise their history.

For instance, I found out this evening that this forthcoming season marks the 90th anniversary of the last time a West Ham player scored 30 goals or more in the top flight, so I intend to seek out my West Ham supporting friends tomorrow to mention that fact to them and ask whether the club are planning any kind of celebration to mark the achievement.

I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

With my ex-wife being a west Ham fan, you've become my favourite poster with your last two posts alone!

Probably better off waiting for the centenary.
