Difficult to see who his next club be. He wont want to take a drastic pay cut, and will probably deem himself too big for the Championship, but I can't see any PL clubs taking a punt on him.

Who's coming up next season? Norwich? Leeds? Can you imagine him under Bielsa? :)

He's got Rangers and Scottish League top scorer written all over him...

Can't see it with Gerrard as manager. I would assume Gerrard knows more than most exactly what Carrol is like from his Liverpool days and if he's got any sense won't want that kind of attitude anywhere near his dressing room.

Lovely discussion on KUMB commemorating the fact that next season will mark 40 years since they last won a proper trophy.

One poster writes:

"I was seventeen when we last won the fa cup, then we was in the charity shield, then in Europe. Barring one fa cup final and Metz away - best night of my life following the irons - we have not had a sniff. All I want to do before I shuffle of this mortal coil is see West Ham win more fa cup - something my sons have never seen. The way it is going sadly I do not think I am going to live long enough to see it."

Which gets the response

"Steve, none of us are going to live long enough."

I know its funny that Carroll is West Ham's problem but I cant help but feel a little sympathy. He's an unprofessional twat who has earned a lot of money for very little work and effort. I mean I know the owners agreed to pay him that, but the fans didn't have much to do with that.

Beyond our partisan club supporting lines, surely most normal people can group together in anger at such an absolute nob end? In nearly any other line of work the idiot would have been bombed out of there long ago.

Or am I going soft in my old age?

I’m sure their fans had little sympathy for us when Bentley was rinsing us. They also signed Wheelchair, so are clearly too stupid to learn from their mistakes.

I also have a certain degree of understanding when it comes to players behaving in that way. You have one life, you’re young, and earning a fortune for what is essentially a hobby that entertains a lot of people. I can see why some would choose to make the most of it. I’d like to think I wouldn’t, but who knows? It sounds like Carroll is enjoying himself (not that I care).

It’s not anything new anyway. George Best being the prime example, and our own Greaves and Gazza being others. I respect the professional sportsmen, but I can also understand those that decide to party at the expense of their reputation and career.

I get your point though. It’s insulting to the supporters who collectively pay a big chunk of their wages.

No sympathy at all from me. Like I said before, it was well known in the public domain even what Carrol was like before West Ham signed him so they knew the risk they were taking. And then to do exactly the same thing again with Wilshire just makes it even more their own fault. The phrase "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." springs to mind

Fair although Best, Greaves and Gazza were genius footballers who could win you things out of nowhere.

I'm not saying unprofessional players can't be good players.

The difference is taking a risk on Gazza paid off for most teams, whereas taking a risk on Carrol hasn't

Hilarious.

They could always sell off their stadium...oh...they've already done that.
