I was about to post this. I have never seen a club describe a new arrival as such. No need to blow your own trumpet that you manage to bag a quality player.

The key is never to mention who said player was sought by. (y)

Just proves the pond they are fishing in. At least they know their place.

Pablo Fornals from Villarreal, for £24m, on a five year deal with an option for a sixth.

I think he’s meant to be pretty good, isn’t he?

Just means we’ll hear more of what we do every summer...

‘We’ll be finishing top 6’, ‘good chance of finishing above Tottenham’ etc etc

To be fair, I know nothing about him. Fair few here seem to rate him though.

I’m pretty certain Mr Levy and Mr Barry Hearn ensured this is virtually impossible. Just as removal of the athletics track is also virtually impossible.
As part of the deal, Levy got cast iron guarantees neither could happen as these were basically the only two reasons they didn’t award Tottenham the stadium ( anyone with half a brain cell could see Levy’s proposal was the most sensible and easily the most lucrative, who’d have thought they’d end up suggesting something similar at some point! )

Imagine the transfer funds after Levy got done suing everyone involved if it were to happen!

I think you're probably being a bit naive there to be honest. If the stadium is losing the taxpayer millions and millions every year, if someone comes up with a sensible solution to end this ridiculous situation then do you really think there'll be too many arguments from everyone? They will find a way to get it through because it will be mutually beneficial to basically everyone except for Levy.

Also I just don't see Levy dragging it all through the courts at great time/effort/financial expense just for the sake of arguing the toss. We've finished our stadium and it's a million times better than anything West Ham can ever dream of, so it just seems like a squabble that is a bit beneath us in all honesty. He's got far bigger and better things to be doing with his time than arguing the toss to the nth degree over several years of court cases just to prove a point.

The original OS deal absolutely reeks of corruption but it doesn't look like anything is going to be done about that, so the next best thing is if someone can come up with a way that stops the taxpayer pissing any more money up the wall. The damage is done so it's about limiting it at this point, and if the only downside is that it pisses off Daniel Levy, well I doubt anybody will care too much about that.

West Ham announcing a signing as a "highly sought after player" is the most West Ham thing ever

The players file must have been at the bottom of a massive stack and it took them ages to remove the ones they have no chance of signing before they got to his.
