What happened to the billions that the new owners were going to bring in?

They apparently started playing silly buggers over price apparently.

Thank you for the update Steve, I know a fair few Newcastle fans and they were giving it the "Johnny Big Balls" about the billions they would have very soon. Apparently, this group tried to buy Liverpool a few years back but failed to provide significant enough proof that they had the funds to complete the buyout. I have nothing against Newcastle of their fans and I'm sure they only wanted the oil money to get them to a place they feel they belong. Their current situation is reminiscent of our own situation back in the 90s with Alan Sugar, I hope they are able to get Mike Ashley out and someone sensible like a Daniel Levy in charge but it will take a very long time to turn it around but given they are in essence a one City club with a fine stadium and fanatical support I really hope they are able to turn it around in the future. As I've said there are similarities between our Clubs. ♥

He just wants out!
Never kidded anybody about that!
Still think the club will sell soon!

Think he wanted out for a few years now. ever since they become "Sportsdriect @ St. Jame's park" he has been trying to...
1) sell the club
2) sell the stadium naming rights
3) run away from newcastle

the fans don't like him, and he has been asking for a lot of money for an average club.

i do feel for them, many will still be wondering what happen to the club that bought Shearer and won the league.

Surely Shearer won the league at Bkackburn with their own sugar daddy at the time
I believe Shearer won jack all at Newcastle

Think you’re missing a “nearly” there. Newcastle have won bugger all in my lifetime (bar a few championship titles)

Although I think that you might be thinking of Blackburn, I agree with the sentiment. Those heady days under Keegan must seem like a lifetime ago.

If Newcastle appoint Bruce I wouldn't be surprised if the buyout has fallen through, i would be absolutely flabbergasted if Bruce would be the new owners first choice

Ashley put the club "up for sale" after he had a pint with the Geordie fans at Arsenal away... And got fined for drinking in the stands.

In reality though, Newcastle is a meal ticket for him. Invests very little, reaps the profits, while he focuses on his retail empire.

It could be worse for Newcastle fans, Pardew and Mark Hughes are both still available........

Don't take any pleasure from their pain, as they are a proper club with proper fans. Having said that I was glad the Saudi takeover never came off as we really don't need more clubs laundering money and distorting the game.
They need to appoint someone the fans can get behind who is going to play some attractive football, with some young players etc. Someone like Eddie How would suit them, but my guess is he is waiting for a club in London, such as West Ham . Appointing dinosaurs like hippo face Allardyce etc would be taking the piss out of those loyal fans, and they have probably suffered enough already

I think Ashley is taking the piss. He has got most perhaps all of his investments back one way or another and is appointing Bruce as a FU to the barcode fans.
