My Liverpool supporting friend said Van Dijk's tackle "wasn't that bad and that it's not even a yellow in the PL".

I do think it looks worse in slow motion and in real time it looks like an "ok" challenge.

But as usual with Liverpool, offended by everything, ashamed of nothing.

That's a straight red all day long, PL or not. I'm all for getting stuck in and being a bit more physical, but that's the kind of challenge that ends careers and has no place whatsoever in the game IMO.

Do me a favour and ask him what his view would be if van dijk pulled out a gun and shot a napoli player in the face mid-game. I still think there's a chance he might defend him.

VVD very lucky there. If the attacker had that foot even more firmly on the ground at the time of impact then that could’ve been a career ender.

I don’t like his arrogance but there’s no denying he’s taken Liverpool up a notch or two almost single handedly.

My brother a Liverpool fan said it wasnt a red. If thats a red there'd be 2 or 3 reds per game!!!

I said well I dont know what games you're watching. He nearly broke his fkin leg!
He replied simply 'He got the ball.'
I said winning the ball has fk all to do with it if its a dangerous challenge.

No reply lol.

As has probably been said if the shoe was on the other foot they'd have gone fkin ape shit and probably called for a public execution.

Wan#ers.

This "he got the ball though" line needs cutting out IMO. Nowhere in the rules does it say you can do whatever you like as long as you touch the ball first. Alright, so it's a decent enough unofficial way of deciding on a 50/50 decision as to whether something was a foul or not, but the mere fact you've touched the ball doesn't then make it OK for you to go in at full force, with no control, your studs up at knee height into somebody. That tackle has to be a red all day long.

I haven't got the official rules to hand, but the section says something along the lines of even if you attempt to play the ball, if you do so in a dangerous manner that has potential to cause injury to the other player, of if it forces the other player to pull out of the situation for fear of being injured, then it's a red card. So even if you don't even touch the player you can still be sent off, let alone if you do what VVD did.

I'll explain. He always loved football but never tied himself to a team. Then he got married. She supported Liverpool purely to piss off her brother who was a lifelong Evertonian. This gives you some idea of where she's at. Royal arsehole. She then cheated on him and theyhad a very messy divorce and for some dumb shit reason he decided to stay with Liverpool. Would be a bit twatish to swap teams after this long to be fair. My mums side of family were all Spurs and my dads Scottish but he used to go to whl when dating my mum and now I go with him.

Sorry you asked lol?
