It's immaterial what happens with us, Liverpool were talked up something mental before kick off, by themselves in particular. This is hilarious.

watching MOTD i could not beleive how poor liverpool were at the back, they were constantly outmuscled on the ball and outplayed, there only sign of hope was Suarez who could not hit a barn door yesterday, no change from last season for them i feel

I was in Denmark this last week, and had to visit a pub to watch the game on saturday. I went there early to get some beers and watch whatever 3 pm game the pub showed. When I got there the pub was thick with Liverpool supporters because the signs outside said they'd show the Liverpool game. Scandinavia is thick with Liverpoolfans, and Odense was no different.

To my huge satisfaction it turned out that the danish broadcaster had decided to show the Swansea game instead (because of Michael Laudrup I suppose), and as they only had the one channel they couldnt show the Liverpool match as well. Poor Liverpoolfans..

Good for me though, when all the Liverpoolfans left the pub I got a good view of the action and managed to get pretty drunk before our game started. I don't even remember our game to be honest, but I remember being up in arms when they got the penalty.

Were weren't as bad as people are making out until our best defebder by far was sent off. At that point we were 1-0 down and creating a lot of chances (which Suarez and Johnson were skying).

Agger got sent off and Carragher came on and we fell to bits. Just as we were starting to get our heads clear, another penalty was awarded and they didn't miss that one!

As soon as the second went in our usual and long-standing mental weakness was on full show and every players head dropped thining "its happening again". They may as well just went home at that point their heads were gone.

If anybody saw Gary nevilles analysis after the Utd game tonight I thought he got it spot on. It was very reminiscent of last season we dominated them and had over 70% posession up till they scored the first goal and created 3 clear cut chances that Suarez and Johnson missed. One of those goes in its a different game but that was the same story last season.

We are desperate for goalscorers. We need an attacking midfielder, as Gerrard is finished as a goalscorer, with goals in him, like a Dempsey for example (I think we could end up not pushing the boat out for Sigurdsson), and another striker who is a proven goalscorer. If we could bring these two players in we'd be guaranteed top 6 imo.

We have a good defence which statistically was the fourth best in the league last season despite our poor league performance (which shows again that our big problem is a real lack of goals and goalscorers) but short in the full back positions.

Its so frustrating as we just need a bit more money to bring in 2 more players, like said above and then, if we can keep our best players, then we just need time and practice to get used to Rodger's system.

Were moving in the right direction and in the 3 competative games we've played there has been definite signs of improvement in our play, but fans are going to have to remain patient and write off this season as transition and one to just adjust to Rodger's way of playing which is polar opposite of what that group of players are used to.

Time, and lots of it, is the key here, but were yet to see if the modern day fan can accept this.

Thought people might be interested in this article. Really good analysis of how FSG transformed the Red Sox, how their similar in nature to LFC, and then how FSG may move us forward as a club on and off the field over the long term. It shows just how big a challenge faces FSG and I'd imagine there are simialrities facing Spurs ownership in achieving similar:

An interesting read. I take it you have seen the Moneyball movie?

This quote in the article made me laugh though;

“In the end they are great owners because it is about winning, and they have done that. I have always said that Liverpool will win the EPL soon, and the Champions League because FSG will not stand for anything less.”

Kind of fits with the optimistic outlook all the Liverpool fans seem to have at the start of every season. :)

Fulham have not made a complaint over Liverpool. The complaint is against Brendan Rodgers for comments he made about Clint Dempsey. So if thereis any foul play found, the FA will punish Rodgers, not the club.

A neat distinction.
I'm sure Mr Rodgers is acting without the knowledge of the club and, as such, if he is fined he won't expect the club to pay his fine.
