Slightly conflicted with the result. Ruined my sevenfold with all other six matches winning.

Never do an accumulator where matches on at same time. You won't get offered a decent cash out option. Well that is my theory and it has held true for me.

Arsene has a pop at Chelsea....and he has a point....

With Conte still reportedly unhappy about the number of players at his disposal, Wenger has given his view on the matter, but believes Chelsea have contributed to their own problems and has insisted that he doesn’t feel sorry for Arsenal’s rivals.
“Maybe, yes he has the opposite problem [to Arsenal] but if you look at the number of players that are out on loan, they can call a few back,” he is quoted as saying by The Times.
“I have sympathy for him. But do I feel sorry for Chelsea because they don’t have enough players? Then no.”

Chelsea have well over 20 players currently out on loan elsewhere in England and around Europe, with several youngsters being shipped out despite seemingly having an opportunity to offer depth at the very least.
In turn, Wenger makes a great point and Chelsea’s loan strategy is a matter that has been questioned by many in recent years. Especially with Champions League football back on the schedule for the Blues, it would surely have made sense to keep some of the players that have been sent out on loan.

I totally agree...Chelsea had all these players out on loan with just one aim...to sell them at a handsome profit rather than help them develop and perhaps get into their first team. Well the plan is backfiring nicely whilst Spurs are reaping the rewards of having faith in their youth players and bringing them into top level football early on. Poch's confidence and belief in what he is trying to build at the club seems to have spread like wildfire throughout our entire set up and has created a positive and forward thinking atmosphere at every level . All Conte does is moan (and moan) about squad depth and the need for yet more players...because he has no natural team back up he relies on the 'spend spend spend' philosophy and if results aren't forthcoming he will soon feel the wrath of the Russian billionaire....bring it on !! The number was closer to 40 the last time I looked. There ought to be limits on the numbers of players have on their books, whether it's school children training with the club, academy scholars or fully-fledged professionals, including players loaned to or borrowed from other clubs. Unfortunately, such limits will almost certainly not be introduced, so clubs like Chelscum and Citeh will continue to abuse the system.
I would add to your last paragraph, Krule, by saying that part of Chelscum's stockpiling of players is purely and simply to stop rival clubs buying those players.

Totally agree, but you might want to remove that picture as it's got a copyright on it.

Costa's putting the boot in now...

"I respect him as a great coach. He has done a good job and I can see that, but as a person, no. He is not a coach who is very close with his players. He is very distant. He doesn't possess charisma."

Conte's text has probably cost Chelsea tens of millions. Hopefully this drags on for months and causes a few more rifts in the Chelsea dressing room.

Don't think theres any pressure on us tbh, we haven't spent truckloads of money, and Sky are already planning on presenting the PL trophy to one of the mancs.
Love to turn that dirty lot over next weekend nonetheless.

There's not stacks of pressure on us, I'd agree with you there, but there were mounting stories about us not spending anything and then the Danny Rose interview came along. Add to that the 'Curse of Wembley' line that the pundits keep trotting out and you'd have to say that there was a storm brewing, albeit a small storm.

Anyway, nothing we can't handle (y)

Yeah, our pressure is different. There's pressure on 4 or 5 clubs to win the league. There's pressure on us not to fail. It's all negative stuff because we have upped our game so much and people think we shouldn't be there because we don't do things like we are expected to. If we suddenly became the lotto winners and splashed the cash I think after a few years we'd be accepted but right now we don't give SSN any reason to cream themselves with disgusting amounts of money next to our name.

The media prefers 'narratives' rather than truth-seeking; it helps them neatly package a story and then sell it to their customers.

That's why teams, players, managers and sets of supporters get labelled as something or another and it takes decades to break free of the sterotype.

Right now we're 'bottle-jobs', despite the fact that over the last few years we've beaten the big Italian sides away from home, beaten the big domestic sides home and away, finished 3rd and 2nd in the league, had brilliant defensive records, won 'ugly' on countless occasions (Swansea away last season for one), finished above Arsenal after 20+ years, actually put in decent performances in dead-rubber end of season away games, won in the North East at the weekend...the list goes on.

Of course this makes the media look a bit daft, because it doesn't tie-in with the 'bottle-jobs' narrative

The simple reality is with Chelsea's money and the time they acquired it should have resulted in them being pretty dominant.

Instead their managers are put under huge pressure to get immediate results and young players coming through simply don't get a chance.

I believe they have one of the best performing youth teams at all levels in the country. But how many have been given any level of chance.

If they had Kane, after his first chance not scoring goals and he'd be sent to oblivion.

Their methods result in inconsistent results and constant manager and player changes.

OK, so we're only one game into the new season.

Does anyone think there's a possibility of their season from two seasons ago repeating?

A manager said to be unsure of staying. Their star striker speaking out against them. A group of players who probably won't care if the going gets tough.

I don't think it'll happen but like that it is a possibility.

They target a certain type of player. Undoubtably these players are winners, when it suits them. But there is no consistency in the club. Players and managers are expendable so what's the point in performing all the time. Show you are a top player and get your next big move. I seem to end of my Chelsea posts like this but they are quite disgusting.

Well previously it was a civil war between Mourinho and the players

This time it seems like a spat between Conte and...er...anyone who can be bothered to listen (Costa and eventually Abrahmovich I guess)

So it's a bit different this time around

That said, there's always a chance it'll escalate (y)

I know some of our fans are slating our summer business so far but I've just read something that cracked me up:

"There are Love Island contestants who've come through this summer with more dignity than Chelsea" :ROFLMAO:

When I look at their possible line up for our game I feel slightly confident:

Courtois - Azpilicueta, Rüdiger, Christensen - Moses, Luiz, Kante, Alonso - Pedro, Willian - Morata

On the bench only Batshuayi looking a threat. Their squad depth seems worse than ours. Wouldn't be too surprised if they sign one or two before our game.

Not according to some of the experts last week who were crying about our lack of depth

As much as I loathe Costa, it's a bit shit to be fining him £300k for no showing training. The manager can't even have the front to tell him face to face that he doesn't want him so why should he have to bother turning up

My Chelsea supporting work colleague just said to me....

What a weekend, I think you're gonna win the league?

Mmmmm, we played well, but it was Newcastle

But it's the way you did it, classy. And not signing anyone is embarrassing to the rest of us, he said built a close knit team and he's just told them "you're good enough", I hope we get Rose though.

They're coming across as a shambles at the moment, I really think Conte will be gone before Christmas.

The loss of John Terry will be absolutely huge at a time like this as well. As much as a prick he can be you could imagine him taking on the responsibility of at least trying to improve the atmosphere around the place and trying to appease any players who's heads are dropping.

Also just realised Cahill is their captain and the only English player in the squad. How can the fans feel any sort of affinity with this outfit?
