They're 2-1 up from the away leg and malmo are shite, bearing in mind their two games after this one is City and us then yeah they will definitely put out a second string team.

Think it would be a mixture. Big hitters would certainly be on the bench I Reckon

Interesting article.

I think they should stick with Sarri personally and give him time to implement stuff.

They change things far too often and need to actually build (not that I want them to do well of course lol).

Agreed - for me there is an issue here with the philosophy which the squad isn't capable of delivering at present and will take more time and more players i think.

He's made a few signings who you'd presume were key to what he wants to do - Jorginho in particular who looks to be struggling with the pace of the EPL game in game out. Higuain for me doesn't suit his style of pressing football and beyond that they've spent £70m on a keeper. For me, he's not addressed the needs of his squad to play Sarriball nor has he been overly successful in getting the team to play in his style where possible. His seeming lack of affinity with talent like Hudson-Odoi is also an issue.

You're right though, if they want to move forward they need to stick at some point, why not with Sarri - Another coach will go through the same mess ultimately. Consistency and confidence take time to build.

I think the new manager every 2 years is now a busted flush. In the past they spent big and had less competition. They now currently can’t spend like they used to and have 4 serious rivals. Just don’t think their previous model will work anymore.

I tend to agree, the model is a deteriorating one, it is one thing to change your coach every couple of years when a) you have world class players and b) when you bring in the best coaches but when you run out of world class players and can't replace them you can't use that model.
When Hazard goes they won't be able to replace him and God help them if Kante decide to leave too, they have had success over the last couple of years but I honestly believe the last league title was a swan song and only possible in the same way Leicester's was, now the competition has improved that's that and their cup win last year was due in no small way to Hazard, cups are like that, one player can make the difference in one off games.
It is much more relevant that they are no longer a Champions League club, in fact if you think about it if they fail, with Arsenal, to make top four that's the same top four again so we may be no longer be looking at a top 6 but a top 4 with a follow up 2:)

No one will be written out of the "top anything" until it's us that's 6th.

I know what you’re saying but 5 million quid for 6 months work is alright isn’t it!?!?

Football has got too much money in it. No wonder that club struggle with the managers. It almost breeds a certain type of person who will go there hoping to fail.
I've said it before, there are people in prisons all over the world doing time for less than these people get paid in a week and yet we think someone wouldn't intentionally fk up a football team to get the sack for £5million pound. Hmmm.
Not saying he is doing intentionally but to think someone is not gonna want the job when thats what happens if you fail is just ludicrous.

I think people forget with Sarri (and Emery, for that matter) that Pep finished fourth in his first season in England and City played some really great and really awful stuff that season.

Managers need time and, at the top level (minus Poch) money. You have to accept when you change managers that they need to be given a fair chance.

FWIW it's obvious that Sarri's stubbornness and tactical inflexibility isn't helping matters and causes a lot of frustration. An opposition manager can tell when Sarri will make substitutions and who will be coming on and off the minute he sees the team sheet. But it would be mental to sack him unless they go on a historically bad run.

Chelsea should keep their coach for once.

Guardiola and Pochettino hardly set the world alight in their first seasons.

I think most people were willing to give him time until recently. His comments about not being able to motivate the players, the loss to City and refusing to move Kanye back to his best position have ruined him though. He's completely lost the fans.

Well who needs a gay fish anyway. :p

No I understand that, and Sarri has made mistakes galore the last three months, but given how Mourinho and Conte were stiched up as well surely the hierarchy now realise that it's time to back a manager over the rotten egg players that fill the squad.

There’s every possibility Sarri just lucky with a group of players at Napoli. He’s been managing 30 years. What success did he have in the previous 27 not very much. Surely if he was some super talented tactician he’d have made an impact before just hitting 60. Even I have a few good games on FIFA ?
