They’ve paid Conte off then. If they were always going to do it why wait so long.
If it is true RA has cut the cords some my guess is that they had to wait until they could secure guaranteed funding which would be enough to offset his payoff. If that was a bank loan or other financial wizardry we may never know. If it was via player sales we will probably know in the next few weeks.

Well, the longer they left it, the less they have to pay him.

Also, they will have been arguing that Conte helped create this situation by how he handled Costa, and lowballing his payoff as a result.

It's that true? I thought that they had to pay him for the remaining length of his contract? Whether they'd sacked him six weeks ago, or now he's still due the same amount of money isn't he? Isn't it more to do with getting a replacement?

Sarri has been appointed manager now. Looks like they were just getting him over the line before sacking Conte.

If the Russian had paid up they could've got him over the line the second Napoli announced Ancelotti, and that was over a month ago.

Something weird's definitely going on there.

Chelsea's behavior this window has been very bonkers but Jorginho is a good signing. Sarri is a wildcard though, I would be surprised if he lasts a year and had time to implement his style of play in that political and premodanna of an environment.

Matt Law claiming Rugani, Golovin, and Alisson their remaining targets along with Huguain if Morata leaves. Also that the Sky Sports story of Barca wanting a Kante for Gomes plus cash deal is not true.

Very curious to judge their window at the end because some of those targets with their existing personnel would be seriously good. If they do lose some of their players, like rumored, then it may be status quo.
