Mental strength of players good, give 100% every game. Mental strength of fans poor. At Wembley today, we played fairly well in the first half and conceded a goal on the break. All I had around me at Wembley was people proclaiming the game a disaster, players useless etc and communicating panic.
Belief and solid support for the team is what they deserved and would have worked better.

There's a surprise although some will have you believe that's a myth mind you.

It was mentioned in commentary they could sense the anxiousness emanating from the stands. Some will have you believe Michael Owen was speaking nonsense last week, however, what he said was spot on. And his point was that the fans are not the sole reason we haven't won anything. At the moment there is a sense of nervousness that hasn't been around in a while. The last few performances have caused some fans to be nervous, and in a way they expect the players to make a mistake, even though aside from Burnley and Chelsea, we have gained results. Last couple of games we conceded sloppy goals from our own mistakes, for the rest of the games themselves I thought we had control of the ball, dealt with Hazard and Higuian especially rather well, just without a cutting edge in the final third.

Mentality all day long, but it doesn't help that the majority of our players did not get a pre-season because of the world-cup. You have to remember in the Semi final we had the most players out of any PL team playing at the world cup in that stage. To say it's lack of quality is Ludicrous. We just don't have the depth and you can see it in the players, they are knackered and literally pushing through this marathon. Same thing is happening to Pool now at this stage as well. Only City have the depth to go all the way.

Hmm if only our fans had cheered 10 db louder we would have won the game. Lmao.

lack of quality depth is one of our biggest issues, always has been because we dont spend.

I think the reliance on Kane is the biggest issue mentality wise. The players play out of their skin when he is out and then when he is back in - it’s H will save the day. I can cruise. It’s farcical. It’s obvious they are talented enough to hold their own.

The way the crowd groan at any misplaced pass must affect the players. Who is going to try that Hollywood pass, or shot on goal if they think the crowd will get on their backs if it doesn't come off?

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I reckon that the match day thread must really have a knock on the confidence of the players.

Poch has twice called out the players on their arrogance and complacency.

That has something to do with it as well.

Well , looking at the recent Chelski match ,it seemed plain to me that their expensive players had better technique on the ball .

That level of technique is what your millions will buy . We got to the top table with our amazing energy and press . Toby's key quote 'Without our effort we are nothing' still resonates in these days where those exceptional energy levels have dropped away .

Why that has happened I can't say , but in this new situation the probs stem from the technical shortcoming of many of our players
rather than their mentality IMO .

we have weak areas of the first team that can be exploited- behind the full backs and no real quality at DM. Even weaker teams can exploit this and if our attack has an off day we can struggle.

They have a significantly higher quality of squad all around than we do and their game is based on a strict defensive approach. Our fans would cry watching that weekly.
could you imagine what poch could do with saul and koke in midfield instead of sissoko and dier?

I agree, we lack an awful lot of technique for a team that prides itself on attractive football in it's DNA. We don't have a proper spurs type player at all. My main gripe about Poch.

What is a proper Spurs type player?

Someone that has exceptional technique that flatters to deceive and players one good game in 5 and one great game in 10 and in the other games pretty much cannot be assed

This pretty much is Tottenham's history of pathetic campaigns in the league with the very odd brilliant cup performance....

By the way Alli, Eriksen, Son most definitely are Spurs type players. Obviously Kane isn't because he's World Class!
